From: Alex Mush To: The Seraphim Topic: Planet Nuremberg
This is an update about the Nuremberg crisis. It developed a bit in last weeks. I was in contact with Dr. Viermann of Norgau hosiptal. You should remember her, Dankien. I brought some supplies to them, as you can see from the channel. Alas, the last word from Helena came pretty long ago. She told that she contracted something. I worry about her. Will try to contact her again at the closes opportunity.
Anyways, she reports steep decline of the situation in last weeks. Looks like the information about the fate of the planet leaked and caused some panic among the people. I had a chance to witness it myself when I arrived to Nuremberg.
The space port was buzzing with men and women seeking any possibility to leave. They set a huge camp with tents and what not just outside the landing pad. It seems that only armed patrols still keep them from storming it and taking over all ships in the port. They are desperate, many of them are sick. They need food and medicine. I couldn't have done anything to help them at the moment, so I dropped the shipment to the transport sent from Norgau and set off.
On my way from Omicron Delta, I sent a comm to VWA, the spearhead of Bunschuh party. When I undocked from Nuremberg moor, I encountered a pilot with VWA| callsign, who turned out to be Oberst Erich Klugmann himself, the leader of Widerstandarmee. He contacted me and we met in a nebula behind Nuremberg. In short conversation I confirmed the Seraphim intention to help with the crisis. Oberst informed me that Rheinland declared some of refugees illegal and banned their transportation.
Our conversation was interrupted when a Zoner vessel by callsign Ascende.Superius arrived in scanner range and addressed Oberst Klugmann rather oddly. He told me to continue in comms and left to interrogate the newcomer. I docked to the planet and then set course to Omicron Delta system. I attach the full log of that encounter.
[15.05.2016 20:30:23] VWA|Erich.Klugmann: I recommend that our business be conducted relatively quickly. This is out of our territory.
[15.05.2016 20:30:58] VWA|Erich.Klugmann: Now; your transmission mentioned that your organization is capable of repatriating refugees elsewhere within Rheinland.
[15.05.2016 20:31:02] VWA|Erich.Klugmann: What exactly can you offer?
[15.05.2016 20:31:29] (>S<)Alex.Mush: We have conducted certain surveys of the systems available for refugees
[15.05.2016 20:32:18] (>S<)Alex.Mush: We identified planets suitable for evacuation. Not capitol planets, because that's something the government should care--
[15.05.2016 20:32:27] (>S<)Alex.Mush: -about
[15.05.2016 20:32:46] VWA|Erich.Klugmann: Yes, I read the transmission. Personally, I doubt Daumann will even consider the reply of any who do not attach-
[15.05.2016 20:33:01] VWA|Erich.Klugmann: - A substantial amount of credits as an attachment, no matter what it concerns.
[15.05.2016 20:33:19] (>S<)Alex.Mush: That's sounds reasonable, but I had to try.
[15.05.2016 20:33:44] (>S<)Alex.Mush: So we have a few ships capable of moving people.
[15.05.2016 20:34:08] (>S<)Alex.Mush: In a few weeks we should also have a specialized vessel for that.
[15.05.2016 20:34:13] Aby_Stingray: Alex wanna team up perhaps
[15.05.2016 20:34:21] VWA|Erich.Klugmann: Meaning a Liner or similar?
[15.05.2016 20:34:33] (>S<)Alex.Mush: Liberty heavy transport.
[15.05.2016 20:34:55] (>S<)Alex.Mush: Specifically designed for passengers.
[15.05.2016 20:35:38] VWA|Erich.Klugmann: I see. Bear it firstly in mind that the rogue Bundesrepublik...
[15.05.2016 20:35:56] VWA|Erich.Klugmann: ...Well, in short, it treats any even associating with the Bundschuh as priority targets.
[15.05.2016 20:36:27] (>S<)Alex.Mush: We try to keep low profile
[15.05.2016 20:36:55] VWA|Erich.Klugmann: Speaking of...
[15.05.2016 20:37:01] (>S<)Alex.Mush: Should we move deeper in the cloud?
[15.05.2016 20:37:02] VWA|Erich.Klugmann: Who's there?
[15.05.2016 20:37:26] Ascende.Superius: We were bound to meet again.
[15.05.2016 20:38:04] VWA|Erich.Klugmann: That's a profoundly vague and elusive way to respond to a direct question, Captain. What do you want?
[15.05.2016 20:38:24] Ascende.Superius: It appears the large construct behind does not appreciate you.
[15.05.2016 20:38:57] Ascende.Superius: Perhaps it would be wise to ensure you remain in one pice.
[15.05.2016 20:39:03] Ascende.Superius: *piece
[15.05.2016 20:39:52] VWA|Erich.Klugmann: Yes, I'm very well aware that there's a battleship not far from here. Either speak your words or be on your way.
[15.05.2016 20:40:56] Ascende.Superius: But this one will always be here, Klugmann.
[15.05.2016 20:42:39] Ascende.Superius: You understand now...
[15.05.2016 20:42:48] Ascende.Superius: We are closer than ever.
[15.05.2016 20:42:55] VWA|Erich.Klugmann: *He squints a moment* Herr Mush... We'll speak over transmission.
[15.05.2016 20:43:11] VWA|Erich.Klugmann: In the near future, I'm hoping.
[15.05.2016 20:43:32] (>S<)Alex.Mush: Understood. I will continue my business then.
[15.05.2016 20:43:44] Ascende.Superius: Take care.
[15.05.2016 20:44:25] VWA|Erich.Klugmann: ...What do you want, then?
[15.05.2016 20:44:35] 2016-05-15 20:44:36 SMT Traffic control alert: (>S<)Alex.Mush has requested to dock
[15.05.2016 20:47:00] Ascende.Superius: I am aware you believe this cruel.
[15.05.2016 20:47:08] VWA|Erich.Klugmann: That's an understatement.
[15.05.2016 20:47:53] Ascende.Superius: We could save them though.
[15.05.2016 20:48:02] Ascende.Superius: Accept enlightenment. Become more.
I received a reply from Oberst Klugmann in this channel shortly. He repeated his warning about Rheinland legislations regarding evacuees. He also welcomed our assistance with the exodus All in all, he makes an impression of noble and dignified person. I met him later again with a number of compatriots, carrying political refugees to safety of Bethlehem station.
From that moment, I switched my focus to Nuremberg situation. I contacted Orbital Spa & Cruise, informed them about the crisis and asked to purchase one of their old liners from Norfolk shipyard. Mr. Blackwood, one of their directors, kindly acknowledged the deal and proposed significant discount, which I accepted with gratitude.
I went to New York, wired the required payment from the money I received from IMG for supplying the New Life project, and fetched the liner. I called it (>S<)Meridian. It has space for about 3 thousand people tops, however, refugees tend to take up more space.
My small crew from Lemuria is barely enough to handle such a huge ship, so I hired some people at Norfolk and on my way to Munich. We still getting used to running it. Taking trade lanes proved to be the biggest challenge so far.
Nevertheless, we managed to start evacuation of the most vulnerable groups of refugees from Nuremberg space port. We took the first group to Freeport 9, as they wanted to stay with Zoners. Next few runs we made to New Berlin, the most common destination for Nuremberg evacuees. We could have helped even reunite some families, I suppose. I'm bringing Pharmaceuticals back from New Berlin to distribute in camps that surround the space port.
Below I attach manifests from those flights. I think it is important to keep at least some paperwork around it. Those refugees are easy targets to potential abuse, as we know too well. We need to know, who goes where and make sure no one is left behind.
