Being judgemental isn't really as much a sin as people make it out to be. It's how you make those judgements and what you do with them that's important.
I'm not going to write an essay here so I'm just going to give a bit of advice that applies to everyone in every scenario, not just Discovery. Figure things out for yourself. Don't fall into cliques and let them group-think for you. Humans (unless they're broken, like me), are social animals by nature, and that's okay. Discovery would be pretty boring if that wasn't the case. But just because company feels good and is fun to be around, does not make them the best judge of character. People become exponentially dumber in numbers.
This Community is actually very intelligent, in compare to others I know. So our griefers are the best you can get, as well. They are just few, but doing a "great" job. Some do it "cuz they could", some "for lolz", but some are really dedicated.
I have no idea who they are, but signs of their work are everywhere. They are turning us against each other and then step back, watch and enjoy - whenever they can. They are DDOS-ing Disco from inside, all legal. Some of them leave after a while (or get banned), but another ones take their places easily. Let me be open: we are easy.
While forums are pretty well guarded by Admins (even over-guarded sometimes), space is the place of sorrow: from logging to gank, to not logging at all.
Rest 99% of the Community are just from common, to awesome.
Truth #1- This community does not suck.
Truth#2- This place has always had & will always have people who think that it does, no matter what.
...& there's absolutely nothing that can be done to fix that.
What can be fixed is personal perspective.
Like Arioch, I've seen the best & the worst of this place both as a player & as a staph member. Over the years, the times when I got most burnt out & got to the point multiple times of hating this place, was when I had to deal with enforcing the rules...there ain't nothin' more aggravating than being exposed to the worst this community has to offer on a daily basis & knowing there's just gonna me more of the same to deal with tomorrow.
I've been back now for about a month since my last burnout (& that lasted about a year) & since i've been back, I've stayed semi-quiet, made new characters, & have had a very positive experience w/ RP interactions.
...Honestly, in spite of a few things that honestly disappoint me since I started playing again, I'm having a good time, sorta like I used to.
Wanna know the trick?
I made a specific decision to stay the 'eff away from all the asinine BS of the drama hounds & tried to have fun again.
This doesn't help fix the overall problems of the community, but it does help fix me...& in that way, it does actually help the community.
...but hey, what do I know? I'm just a guy who's been enjoying my time here again because I changed the way I see this place.
It's still a community that have always & will always be full of people who act like unstoppable forces & immovable objects, & when they clash, it sends out shockwaves that weaken everything here.
...On the other hand, an unstoppable force can simply just move past an immovable object, leave it behind and play the game without attempting to deal with other peoples baggage.
I would say give the admin more autocratic powers and make permabans permanent.
Give the admin the power to ban anyone that they feel is impacting the community negatively. Slowly cut off the heads of all those that bring this place down and never allow them back.
People who have been previously banned should also not be allowed back, for e.g. the guy who cries furries when furry rp was banned. They should never have been allowed back aswell some DPCs members that have been recently unbanned. Remove all cancers before we are totally infested and drowning in shiz
That's not how it works. Like any other aspect, balance between staff and community needs to be. Otherwise we would be bombed with DDoS by those who get banned because the admins can. Right now, if it really is necessary, the admins to that already, however they think twice about it. And that is how it should be.

You do know you would be like top 20(maybe 30 if we are feeling nice today . . ) on that list . . ?
But you are not wrong about it, its the only way to start fixing things if we were to stop writing happy thoughts on this thread about how we can fix people's personality rather then just letting them go. . .
Then we could try and get more peoples to join, which should be possible, but please don't use imgur since even if you manage to bump it out above all those memes, you won't manage to attract a "nice" crowd from that site
The community is what we chose to make of it, our actions and our decisions ripple throughout it, shaping how we see and are seen by each other. Simple stuff like being considerate of others, wording concerns and feedback politely or just pausing for a moment to put things into perspective would make such drastic improvements to our community.
Like Ghandi said, "Be the change you want to see in the world."

How can that be the case that I am in the top 30 to be banned since my presence in the forums / discussions is next to zero i.e. I have hardly any input here.
So why would you?
But yeh give the admin more power I say will make the job of policing more easier as wrongdoers will know they are on a short leash if they mess around. Discovery should not be some kind of rehabilitation centre.

This is probably the most productive line I've seen in this thread.
It's amazing what someone with a loud voice and determination can achieve.

It should be a one-shot saloon
Because the input you have added to the community is one of entitlement and 'holier than though" Remember when you donated and wanted a favor for it? I can keep going but wont .
Let me put it in a form anyone can understand on what you are saying.
"Then they reminded Jesus that adultery was punishable by stoning under Mosaic law and challenged him to judge the woman so that they might then accuse him of disobeying the law. Jesus thought for a moment and then replied, “He that is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone at her.” The people crowded around him were so touched by their own consciences that they departed. When Jesus found himself alone with the woman, he asked her who were her accusers. She replied, “No man, lord.” Jesus then said, “Neither do I condemn thee: go and sin no more.” - John 8:7
This community should not and cannot operate like thus if we are to try and fix things. Heck even though I'm hindered in my ability to be creative doesn't mean I want to see the community collapse with authoritarian ideas. What does it solve? -NOTHING- It only creates more hatred and resentment, thus fueling peoples will to not even bother coming anymore. I don't want that here. We can be a great community if we try to put things behind us. I want people here to flourish with their creative minds and not be shackled back by rule upon rule upon rule that says they can't. Where's the fun in that?
