Erm, are we thinking of the same jump hole? The Mollies might have NPCs around the New London Hole, however, they have no NPCs by the Leeds Hole, and they couldn't be vanilla, because there was no way for them to get there through the Corsairs in vanilla. They Corsairs didn't let them in by vanilla standards, and there was no Leeds-Cambridge Hole in vanilla. If there are NPCs there, they aren't vanilla...
Also, if I remember vanilla right, the Hessians were stumbling against the Corsairs, were they not? The Twilight Brigade being destroyed and all that? Though, rumors are biased towards only having one side's view. Digital Anvil did a good job of making it so the NPCs didn't know how strong or weak the other side was and only saying that they might be losing because they don't know how awfully the other side was doing as well.
So, they're allying themselves because they have a common enemy...And they're close to each other? I still don't get it. If the Outcasts lose ground in the Sigmas, the Hessians are going to get more heat because the Corsairs can spare more forces in the Omegas, same as what would happen if the Corsairs stopped fighting in Dublin from Omega-49 and started fighting in Omega-47. What is the difference, aside from the fact that they have proximity?
The Mollies get a base, near the New London Jump Hole or in the Cardiff Field, where they might have influence and wouldn't have to fight so many Corsairs. The Destroyer has recently been parked near the hole and might be used to cover their supplies coming to finalize the base. The Corsairs get a base in Bretonia, in the field where they hold complete NPC control, where they can test their new recruits and put the Legionnaire and other such newbie things, which is in conjunction with their logical expansion plans.
Why would they want a base in Bretonia? Well, lets see:
It's a major pirating ground
The way to New London is long and unprotected as it currently is
Cambridge produces food - Crete has no food
They can attack the Mollies, which are impeding their war against the Hessians and Outcasts and their pirating
Also, why would the Mollies want a base only one jump away from their Destroyer in New London? They could just keep it in that field and use that for a base from which to pirate in Cambridge. Libsurn Rock makes no sense for the Mollies if bases one jump away are automatically disregarded...
Anyway, enough derailing for me....
[8:32:45 PM] Dusty Lens: Oh no, let me get that. Hello? Oh it's my grandma. She says to be roleplay.
[12:49:19 AM] Elgatodiablo: You know its nice that you have all that proof and all, Bacon... but I just don't believe you.
Bacon's idea for the Molly base makes more sense. Think about it, right now the Mollies really can't spare people to hit the Corsairs. Sure they would like to but they can't spare the men to attack Omega-5 since they are busy trying to get their independence again. Lisburn seems somewhat impossible. It has BAF on one side keeping reinforcements from coming to Lisburn and an overwhelming Corsair force on the other.
Lisburn would make perfect sense if the Treaty of Dublin was still around but for now I think that either Bacon's idea for the Molly base, or no Molly base at all, would be best. I liked having Lisburn to dock at but right now I just don't think it makes sense.
As for the Corsair base, I'm all for it. Bretonia is the main pirating ground for the Corsairs (that and Omegas) and they already have the presence in the ice cloud to make a base.
I must say, I do wonder what's been happening with this. Bretonia needs a lot of love (as does Kusari, but that's a subject for a different thread, I think), and I'd really like to hear if there's been any real progress on this project.
