How are the Frogeaters making so much progress when they are literally getting their butts kicked almost in every fleet encounter?
Why are the Firestalkers missing 50 ammo from their former state? Pretty disappointed about this half measure of not readding the Sidewinder and nerfing the one remaining missile launcher.

Also, the Red Hessian engines are glorious.
Not to be a jerk or anything, but why did these simple changes take so long to implement?
The new hessian engines and bomber guns are my favorite items in this entire list

Well Jayce alot of these changes had a ton of infocard changes and map changes that required time to tweak properly. Not to mention economic changes from Xoria and whatnot. It only looks simple, actually creating and implementing is much harder than it looks. Takes alot of specific skills to get them ready and ingame so they don't break said game. (I literally mean break the game btw.).

Anyways the next update is scheduled to be the .89 Final Release. That will be ready when it's done as always. Tongue

Not really. The most difficult part of mod-related changes, sans plugins, is hitboxing ships. That's it. There's literally a tool to do the maps for you, the rest is just crunching numbers or typing things in XML.

"They do it for free."

Basically what Tabby said. In theory, most modification done to Freelancer isn't really all that hard, but in practice, there are a lot of unexpected issues which arise when working with such an old game and a mod that's built on layers of older, lower-quality work from way back before most any of us even heard of Discovery.

Add to that the fact that the development team wants to ensure the highest-quality work is what gets pushed out, not only to ensure the best gaming experience, but to save ourself further headache, there are occasional technical and organizational issues on our end as a natural result of the development process, dev team members come and go, and real life interferes with it all, and we have a process which can't always be as expeditious as we'd all like.

(At least we're still faster than Daybreak, though.)

Does this mean if I get a group of 20 people together and start defeating BAF in new london orbit with pirate ID's I can take over bretonia?

In-game stuff like the results of battles should never seriously impact lore.
