Travel to the past, however, is impossible, as the past is already set.

As for the idea; nah. Too much effort, without any real gain out of it.

I've already read the Liberty one, but the Nomad one is new to me... It seems I have to visit Newcastle once...

I wrote a really funny FL story, but it disappeared when the old forum went away. So, no lulz for you today.

The faster you go, the slower time appears to pass for you apparantly.
400 people on a super fast ship that goes zipping away, the journey for them would appear to be maybe 10 minutes but years could have passed for everyone else. Time dilation, not much fun:P

In regards to this idea, Jumphole are gravitational anomalies that form wormholes. Gravity can bend time and space, it might just cause issues with time travel.
I would actually suggest bringing in a new 'enemy' of some kind. Either that or make the Nomads actually do something. They seem to be one faction that hasn't changed in 16 years.

i see where this is going.... so all the time, we have been going through time? what if we were at the dom'kavosh home when we were at the nomad dyson sphere, as for this newcastle thing going on, i have not had access to freelancer for a while, i'll get to that as soon as i can, but maybe we don't have to fight the dom'kavosh? if there is any other ideas on enemies, say em please:lol:

The Dom'Kavosh shouldn't be represented I think. We know so little of them except for their incredible power, leaving it up to the individuals imagination can be just as good, if not better sometimes. The unknown always does seem that little bit more powerful, probably because it usually is.

Other enemies however, would be nice. I vote that the entire Machine Alliance turn against humanity. That would be..interesting.

Meh

Put a Borg cube with a 100.000 Refire Green lazr that does 1,000 damage per shot.

We can fight that.

Give it 4M armor too!

Says who? Just because we can't do it now dosn't mean it can't be done. Its just arrogant to assume we know everything about the universe. Two hundred years ago if you had said man would walk on the moon you would have been laughed out of town.

Oh and for a new enemy I want giant space bugs, or trashcans with guns that shoot gas.....

about those trashcans, im sure the GMG would domesticate them and make the wild ones extinct, imagine turning garbage into ship fuel, certainly an investment they'd do. soon GMG and ALG would be best of allies

The problem with saying this is that to generate a 'time machine' the theory involves the towing of a black hole, and the generation of more energy than the maximum energy capacity of the universe, making time machines physicly impossible based on modern physics. Also, to find out about time dialation and relitivity, see the book The Forever War.

It seems to have alot of science in place and is a pretty good read too. One thing I did notice was the use of worm-holes called Collapsars, which are similar to jump holes. The use of collapsars would transport ships to a destination near instantaniously, cutting down on time dialation. I assume if you were to try to apply science to FL (something already tried and failed), because JHs and JGs are constantly used the dialation is so minimal you wouldn't notice.
