I always say go with Altec Lansing! I think the two speaker and woofer combo is sufficient for anyone especially if you're using it for a room of that size. I've tried to Bose 2-speaker and woofer system and it didn't even compare to the Lansing system. On the other hand, the Bose system with more than 2 speakers is VERY good but VERY pricey. I say for what you're looking for I would go with the Altec Lansing.
Well good start would be to give somekind of orientation- how much money do you have, what kind of sound-card do you have, without good card buying good speakers is kinda pointless.
Are you looking for hobby level speakers or for something better? Where are you from/where you can shop? Do you want 2 only or 2.1 or 5.1/7.1?
Bose are indeed not bad but on the price of the entry models you can find better solutions. For me for non-professional PC use this ones are really nice: http://www.scythe-eu.com/en/products/aud...tra-2.html You got Yamaha quality on Logitech price, do I need to say more.. After this entry price level of 100 € you start slowly in the proffesional models or semi-professional ones where really depends what you want, also it is easy that good 2.1 to go over 500€, my PC costs a bit less so ye.

If you're looking for a receiver and so on, you can always go NAD. They never fail, and you can get the lower end systems at a nice price if you do some detective work - if you have a local hifi store you might be able to get last years model or a hardly used top of the line (from last year) display model at an affordable price.
For that kind of system, XTZ speakers are really good. They are really cheap when their quality is taken into consideration. They get great reviews on various hi fi sites, my mate's got a 5.1 set for his Denon receiver and they sound great.
