Question about Freelancer ID

Right, so now i find out freelancers are not allowed to pirate. I will report them from now on.

AD was talking about people with Freelancer ID not IFF, mind you. Since I have the feeling that's what you meant.

And they may treat traders as combat vessels if that's their contract, or may demand cargo if that's their contract (for example: BHG getting hired to enforce the Liberty-Rheinland embargo ordering a GMG full with Cobalt ore to drop the ore as per his contract).

People on the Freelancer ID aren't allowed to pirate, no. People on the Freelancer IFF on the other hand can have another ID - so make sure you scan people's ID before you report them. Reports without such scans (we do get a few of them) are dismissed as being imcomplete, with no action taken on them.

As your talking about me ( Rosa ) yes, Freelancers can be hired. Flares are not signed up on Liberty Rogue BOard yet ( no answer from them yet ), so I did not engage you, until the Rogue Destroyer told me if he can hire me. And I said yes, and he did pay me as promised. Flares are signed up on Lane Hacker though, so I was going for the [LN], but then the rogue Destroyer hired me. And I can prove that he did.....************

As you can see, the cash received from the Rogue, and he told me to screen it incase someone didn't believe that I got payed.

Well, I ask it, because I readed about only can be hired, if you are NOT hostile to him. Freelancer and Outcast... are not friends, so I think, Outcast cant hire a hostile guy. Thats all. Also, the liberty laws say about the hired ship cannot engage another ship if he is on friendly terms...

I just need a bit orientation, because i noted, some rules are not easy to understand. Thanks for advance and for the info guys!.

Freelancers are neutral to everyone unless their personal choices have changed that. Anyone can hire a freelancer by default.

I had a problem today, been pirate twice in Omega-11 by a player *snip* who's IFF showed Freelancer but had a Junker ID. the second time i got killed trying to explain the incongruity of being a pirate and showing a Freelancer IFF witch allow you docking in almost every base.

Space is dangerous. What he did is perfectly within the rules but mind you you should remove his name from your post because that is not considered ok here.

Where he can dock is determined by the ID and his reputation, not the IFF, so don't worry.

Be a bit more careful next time, either scan the ID when you are in range or stay completely clear of hostile and Freelancer IFF's.

You will find it quite common for players to display a freelancer IFF with a different ID. It may be accidental, or intentional. You only find out through gameplay. Pirates and etc may use the Freelancer IFF to appear as a simple freelancer until its too late. Other reasons may be that a member of a faction may be 'under cover' in the same way, appearing as a civilian Freelancer from a distance. Its not incorrect, just part of the tactics used by people for both gameplay and RP purposes. Most pirates will likely display a Freelancer IFF, so seeing that may not always mean that is what is on their ID, which is why you must look at the ID to know what that person is playing as.
