i thinks its a good idea...but seriously i dont think the BHG need more powerful stuff..i test flew a BHG dessie and BHG battleship in SP...and on our battle server...and all i can say is

- from a BHG destroyer? - one of the weakest destroyers in the game that is mostly of a very defensive nature?

the only destroyer that is weaker is the order recon cruiser....

that was meant for the BHG BS.

The BHG dessie didnt seem that weak...but then we really didnt play...according to the physics of disco...

no seriously im straying from topic....the turrets look interesting...However...it would be interesting to see...well larger turrets for capital ships...i mean alot of the Main turrets for cap ships are tiny....minus those cruiser main guns i think...on the LABC...another thought is...and i know this is gonna take flak.

why does it seem like capital ships have...crap weapons. seriously, im a star wars junkie...so when you see a star destroyer firing a ton of turbo lasers, at fighters, and other ships, thats how i envision the capital ships of this mod....i mean take the lane hacker spyglass for instance...its fracking huge...yet lacks...the...firepower one would envisioin coming from it.

now...this is just a thought...would it be possible, to make turrets, like are shown above, and have the effects of them mimic heavy fire, while still doing the same amount of damage...for example...the falk turrets look cool...even though the fighters are to big...so for lets say a BS primary turret, couldnt you place dual or quad barrels, and have dual or quad fire, from said turret each time you fired...now the trick would be, that each beam doesnt do damage...i.e. 4 beams, x4 damage, it would just be for effect. that way..when in a fight....12 forward firing turrets would look like....24-48 beams of energy lancing toward a target.

that, in my opinion, might cause lag issues, but in a fight would look freaking awesome.

It would be simpler to just put quad fire and reduce projectile damage to 25%.

However the multishot turrets don't work on player ship because they make no sound. I personally have no problem with turrets that have no firing sound, as sound shouldn't be heard in space anyway, but the dev team has different opinion..

they have no sound? strange...i know we dont have the source code but if you can make codenames fire cool looking beams, like the ironhammer and the excaliburs...couldnt the devs just change the 1 beam shooting from the turrets, to 4 beams of light, while...program code wise...still having it act as 1 beam.


and as for the sound thing...i turn it off and listen to music on my pc...freelancer music drives me nuts.

i mean look at the effects for the flak guns....a ton of little sparklies....theoretically if you just changed the look of the beam, then nothing should have to change.


even if the devs could increase the size of the energy beam, according to ship size....like changing font size..


obviously battleships and dreads would have larger beams, cruisers smaller, gunboats smaller then that...

the main thing is i know the devs arent just gonna add 25 more weapons slots to bigger ships, just so space battles look cooler....even though in my opinion, the cap ships should have more weapons slots.


but im sure they have their reasons.

Correction: it does have sound, you just didnt change the hearable sound range from the .inis file, i've been using dual,Tri turrets from other mod, and they made sound like they should

you know since you all like to make these little 3d graphics in yer free time I have a request...for the heck of it.


make a ship model, about the same size or smaller then a starflea, but make it a mech type power suit....


so think zero G storm troopers, small enough to evade Capital ship fire, and place mines and such on the ships hull...thats what we need in discovery...


that way i can RP a ship jacker from the projects...
