I think it's like that already. But OK, lets say Cap8 really need that much mats or really expensive ones and it presents a high luxury to obtain it and that's really OK. For Disco having such a thing as in some other RP games that you have *epic* armors and weapons for what you need to work hard to obtain it and that's great ,but I was only saying that realistic difference between the whole BS ,or any other Cap ship, and Cap8 armor construction costs in materials is a lil bit non-realistic for my personal view that's all
I would really like to see your's or dev's opinion on what and how much mats would you need to build Cap8 armor in RP ofc
Well, tbh, I definitely can imagine a situation, where an armor plating produced out of extremely expensive/rare/hard to produce or work with material would cost more then the ship itself. That is, when related to battleships.
If you install said armor on the ship that is worth 30 millions, that's definitely wrong. (because the amount of material that you're going to spend on battleship and on gunboat differ, and differ alot)
It's a game folks. If you want the game to be fair (and fun) leave that armour at it's current price. If you want a cheap, and good thing, a CAU VI will be both cost effective, and also great.
Now, is the price logical? To cost twice as much than the ship you mount it on? Probably not. Hell, if it'd be me, I'd make it a billion, to have this round price figure. It's just a status-quo item
Easiest way to think about this is Cap8 armour isn't -quite- feasible for mass production yet. Meaning each piece of it has to be painstakingly, over a long period of time, and most importantly expensively created. Think of carbon nano-tubes we can make them, but we can't really mass produce the things yet. And selling of them a few years ago was impossible due to the high cost to manufacture them.
Just imagine one of the processes is experimental and involves lots of science.
In IMG| we rp that transports and armor is handed out by the Guild, while players buy it themselves, ofc. So a little trader who would earn a decent, yet low wage would not have to think about how he can afford a transport that is worth (half) a billion because of the armor. Guess that also makes sense for Navies and Police forces, where you would not pay for your own Carrier, but just command it.
INRP, you wouldn't see Liberty naval captain funding construction of his own capship, armor, guns. He would be assigned to it by high command of respective faction. Same for any military/para-military faction. I can imagine OC & Corsairs do it on basis who is most influential instead.
Another thing... if we would treat prices seriously, why hull of battleship is worth only dozens of fully equipped fighters?
I think the cost increases between armors make sense anyway. After all, you're increasing the strength of the hull more and more, but the mass of the ship appears to be staying the same (ie, cap8 doesn't make your engines work any less). That cap8 adds so much more to your hull while being as massive as cap1 (while being bigger, as per cargo size) says to me that it's either made with more exotic materials or more exotic fabrication processes (or likely both).
I am all to up all prices by 50% while keeping the current income rates.
People seems to have a way too much money and ships sadly.
