More like a pulse beam then a coherent one. 'Though I suppose it's possible to make the effect coherent by making the animation last longer then the weapon refire. And yes, the old refire rates still apply. Projectile speed has been raised slightly, with the projectile duration being dropped slightly - resulting in a mostly equal range. The turrets also have force_ori set, which means the turret MUST align with the target in order to fire at it. This makes it slightly easier to hit a target when the weapon is in-arc, but the weapon will not be in-arc all the time anymore.
Update: Time to wrap up. The last major task before release (on my part) will be infocarding, and lots of it. Blodo will still have a bunch of balancing work to do, but that's usually best handled during playtesting.
- I've rechecked all the weapon infocards and made some changes (mainly ditching old vanilla comments that didn't reflect the reality of the weapons anymore). Also added infocards for all house capital weapons that didn't yet have any.
- Then did the same with all ship infocards, checked and updated as needed to reflect the current state of things. Tuned a few infocards down a notch as some of them were borderline powergaming-by-infocard, or referenced specific bases, or suggested the ship was limited to a specific faction (something that has been superceded by the techmix plugin). Some infocards such as the Aquilon one were no longer correct, also fixed.
Next job: Check all infocards system by system, base by base, update as needed. This will be a HUGE task which I'm hoping will be carried by multiple people.

Where do you sign up?
Multiple people = the Infocard team.
To volunteer to be an Infocarder, contact Jammi, Aeternus Doleo, or me. We are all reachable (eventually) by forum PM.
Preferred skills / attributes for Infocarders:
- A comfortable grasp of the English language, including grammar and vocabulary.
- In-depth knowledge in a particular area, or wide-ranging knowledge, of Freelancer lore (both vanilla and Discovery).
Does the Infocarding job involve the "Bar Rumors" that NPCs of certain bases offer? I know of several bases that either re-use stock vanilla NPCs from existing stations, or that have highly outdated things to say.

Btw a suggestion the Zoner whale it has on the bottom that it may only be used with a zoner id. i suggest to put it on the top of the infochart like its with the barge. it might prevent a lot of the zoner whales which flies under another id or just dock in house space.

Especially the bases, which are copy pasted, then renamed. They need a cleanup.

I know this is a long shot...but is there any chance to get the Gammu reflect its own affiliation? Basicaly AI IFF.Or vanilla systems/easter eggs will not be touched...or we still need a faction?...we have an ID...and ships...but no official faction...YET
AI will not be getting it's own IFF for now. IFFs and all that were set early in the devcycle, it's not wise to keep making changes because that will end up delaying the release indefinately. So the answer to that is no.
Update:
- Adjusted the Barracuda stats to make it a proper HF comparable to other HFs.
- Verified base-to-system references were correct. Handled infocards for Bastille and Connecticut (small jobs).
