I'm pretty sure that a GMS pilot would report an illegal Zoner to the GRN, just sayin. If he saw them on an Outcast then logged his Valor, then it would be a different story
Seriously tell me who don't paly it that way?
Meh this is just way that Freelancer game is played this days.
You see if you pirate people, they often come back with other ships
saying: Give me back my money or I will kill you.
But that is ok, if I play with fire I can get burned too.
And for me it is much more fun that way.
Also other example: how can trader that was killed (destroyed) alert police?
I don't blame players for that, why would I it is natural to get mad if someone robs you or destroy your ship.
But I do blame developers for making this game soo that players can make credits very fast. Soo they can buy big ships with all fancy equipment in day or two. Mining should be less profitable. Why do I say that?
For 10 runs you can easy make more than 450mils per day, and that is just to much.
Other wrong way to get fast credits and to make less interactions are Barges.
Please get rid of that ship.
Why?
One loaded barge is same as ten 4k transports. Soo we have one interaction instead of ten interactions.
Soo for that reason if I see Barge ship, I try to pirate it with every ship that I have.
It would be better if people had some special BS ships than Barge.
Lords will rule their land as they see fit, and the serfs shall merely beg.
Personally, I support admin decision. You log your police char and patrol around, defend miners/traders and kill pirates. You dont use the info you got from patroling to log your pirate and then pirate people where you saw them mining ore. That is powergaming and it hurts gameplay. If you want to pirate - log pirate and fly on it untill you feel that you done with it. Even if you are not used that info to pirate - no-one will belive you.
I dont even know why people so wondering when getting sanctionied for being nothing but trolls. all that ''Its not against rules'' exuses are only giving away their nature of being total .... yea sadly, I cant say that word here XD
so, sending PM info to other players about spotted pirates/lawfulls/targets is also metagaming?
and using out of game tools (fl companion, watcher, stats etc), to make your ingame life easier is powergaming?

How would you feel if you are flying a fully loaded barge, you run into a harmless miner, five minutes later that miner logs, comes back in a Battleship and demands you to drop all your cargo? Does that sound fair? That Battleship should not have known of your existence and was using knowledge he could not have had to grief you.
I wouldn't go trading in a Barge - it has been said countless times that they are roleplay vessels and not at all a powertraders wet dream. And if I did, I would bring an escort because I know I am such an easy target. Otherwise I would keep my greed in check and just pilot a normal transport that only LF's and freighters can catch up with. Also I would feel really stupid for getting pirated by a battleship.
With the number of systems and generally low playercount, meta-gaming is the only way to ensure fun and interaction. All players do this, it is the only way to play the game and still be mildly entertained.

Only that what you described is completely not the case dude.
I suggest that first you read and then comment.
He flew a LAWFUL ship that belongs to the Gallic House. And then logged a LAWFUL ship that belongs to Gallic house to deal with an intruder that wasn't allowed in the house.
If he would have logged a, Brigand, for example that'd be powergaming, since there was no way that this Brigand character would've known about the barge.
How would it be any different if he reported the offense to some other GRN dude that was flying around? I can tell you - it wouldn't. At all.
Nor would it be out of roleplay for him to do it.
When a citizen witnesses a crime it's his duty to report it to the law enforcers, whether or not he roleplays both the civilian and the law enforcer doesn't matter - there wasn't any powergaming or metagaming involved, if that Zoner wouldn't want to be caught - he should've avoided any and all Gallic lawful entities (and some less lawful too, I guess).
It's the same as I would fly my Kishiro trader, and go over in a lane where pirates are present. I see them on my Kishiro ship but they were busy eating or something and forgot to kill the lane so I managed to pass through. Is it ooRP for me to switch to a KNF/KSP ship and kill them? Hell no. I was roleplaying a trader that managed to pass a pirate blockade and it would only be logical that I would report the case to the local authorities, so what if I am playing as local law enforcer too.

How would it be different? Oh I guess much like those miners who mine ore, F1 and log their transports that are also F1'd right there (Or the people who outright multibox) that instead of interacting with a third party as an informant, you're taking your RP into your own hands to powergame on your little surprise catch. The fact he took a BATTLESHIP to extort another player in an outright defenseless vessel also doesn't help this case and in my opinion, clearly shows us that sanctioned player was doing it to be a muppet.
Also, what happened to the "What happens in sanctions, stays in sanctions"?
What I am seeing here is people being douchebags, if your USI ship sees a furball between at least 2-3 other people and you decide to log your rogue to join in the festivities, that's ok because there is simply now 3-4 people playing out a shooting encounter. One player seeing a barge and going $$$ and doing something that is solely beneficial to only himself, that is douchebaggery right there.
