Jumptrading is in 90% of cases safe, off-lane unnaturally good cashmaking method. Remove it.

I tried jumptrading.
It is horrible.
It is oorp, from start to end.
You have no chance to roleplay jumping because all you have to do is:

> have a neutral like hell jumpship that is oorp in most places
> keep the NPCs from tractoring your fuel
> type: "Closer! Closer!"
> type: "Don't bump!!!!"
> and do everything so far off plane that no one can spot it.

In a multiplayer game, jumptrading is an activity that creates invisible, untraceable activity and denies the chance of interaction.

When IMG did it, all convoying, all coop, all rp while convoying stopped and when I saw what it does to regular activity, I banned it from the IMG fully. Since then, our Barges are additional storage on PoBs, and this is it.

I voted for "Ban Barge jumping" because I figure some base suppliers need it when they are far out of civilised space. And at least jumping transports needs manpower and group activity, even though the kind of group activity is not what I like. But some might, so... that part can stay in, as it is in the sense of a multiplayer game if you coop.

I agree with Jack here, though I think that using jump drives to trade at all is cancerous to this mod. Make it so that jump drives can only jump combat ships, from fighters to battleships

Just remove the JD mount on trade vessels. I agree, it's ooRP as heck and totally destructive to player interaction, but it's still a really cool function. As such, I think large combat vessels should retain the ability while merchant ships get the boot.

Jumping on warships is only a cheapass method of avoiding pvp death.
In 100 % of cases that I have witnessed, a cap jumped out before it was destroyed, and in very many cases (likely 75 %?) the same Battleship undocked in the same system that it escaped before, to rejoin teh fight with fully bots/bats.

That's not conducive to the game.
And it is not a cool function.
Getaway devices suck, imo.

You can't use a JD on a trade vessel, as I don't think they have the power core to use it.

I would make it so that only vessels DOCKED on a ship can jump with it, and even then maybe just give the jumping ability to only Carriers.

I's a disco Libertarian, I'd be ok if they leave it be. Perhaps not barges, that seems like a opportunity to be a group thing. Seems like a decent compromise on the issue perhaps. No problem with indie's having barges, and factions either. I suppose other indies and unofficial factions could hire independent barge owners to supply bases. Without jumping they would still make trading/supplying more efficient, even if they have to go the long way. When I picture a barge, I think it should be flanked by escorts, making it the center of an RP encounter. You're not just protecting any regular transport at that point. Since it holds the cargo equal to many ships, it should be best as a co-operative effort to use one.

Which leads me to my second point, that many say that jump trading eliminates some player interaction. Even if only 5k transports are jumping, if its a group thing, then those players are getting good fun within their own groups. I don't see that as so bad, I think there's always going to be more ships not jump trading in the end.

Isn't going out of the Omicrons a bit .. problematic? For Nomad ID, that is.
Even if they are jumping from the Omicrons, the target system is probably somewhere else.
If it isn't against the rules, I've just found a new use for my Nomad GB.
