It's always been very telling about the community how all so many people here can do is express contempt for the players they meet and try to impose restrictions on them so they wont have to see them anymore, when those players did absolutely nothing to them.

Antagonistic? I'm antagonising this nonsense. Taking away freedom from players is a damn poor trade for the sake of a handful of people who don't want to deal inRP with something that can be dealt with inRP without a problem. It is stupid and a proof of how people create problems when they see a lack of problems. Discovery has worked perfectly well without ZoI limitation on capitals - all they can do because of this is roam around and fight NPCs and have the ability to create RP-worthy scenarios. And that is why this won't see a change. Other than some egoists here, most people care for having a server that offers more than the minimum, both in terms of gameplay and player count.

Furthermore, have you considered that the reason Council BSes are everywhere but Gallia is because NO ONE PLAYS IN GALLIA? I mean, Gallia is nice and all - But there's insufficent interest in it. I can't recall the Gallic Battlegrounds event gaining much if any ground, unless people care to elaborate on the tallies for ships in the AO.

The server population is low hence we have to lift zoi restrictions is not a really good argument.

It's not contradictory. You shouldn't try to force people to put up three months of RP on forum and ingame just to have them get rid of a magical barrier that prevents them from going here and there.

That's the entire point of the SRP system. You pour dedication into a ship/character, and show the Staff you can be trusted to fly around with less restrictions and more freedom when it comes to shaping your character. Not everyone can be trusted with this, see LNS. Once again, it's contradictory because you're proof that the combination of the SRP system and ZoI restrictions when it comes to ships works perfectly.

You are more likely to get surprised positively when you give people more permission than restriction.

I give permissions to people I can trust. And I've made mistakes in doing so in the past. In the context of this discussion, it's fairly obvious that the majority of users can't be trusted to use things properly. This sadly isn't the kind of thing we can deal on a case by case basis, as it's all the same. The minority that's affected already has or could have SRPs instead, easily.

Expectations should always be low - because it is a game and not a job.

Why should we not pursue quality? What kind of belief is this? It's a game, but it doesn't mean it can't be a good game. If you want low expectations for roleplay play in conn .

There is nothing positive about foreign capitals that can't even use their IDs coming to the Omicrons. They're a cringey inconsistency, that spouts the same old mary-sue special snowflake roleplay that gets tiresome very quickly. Didn't you support shooting them?

In an ideal world, we have more Makos and Osirises in Delta, but forcing people to grind up 1.5 to 2 billion credits to go there in a battleship - which is simply another and different kind of playing Discovery - is not good.

How about we be done with it then. Let's just give every ID ZoI in the Edge Worlds. Why not just get rid of Core, Order, AI, Nomad, Corsair, Outcast and Zoner IDs - because it's too much effort for people to make local ships to interact with the region. Let's just get rid of everyone else and inject the region full of LNS. I'm sure that would be a great improvement for players, both in terms of RP and gameplay

What you're talking about isn't some fairytale that can't be reached. You have to create encouragement so that you can push players towards the region to make ships and interact.

I would like to see Spazzy's suggestion about temporarily reducing ship prices to draw interest implemented.

That being said, I really prefer playing with people. Official faction members are rarely seen, mostly only for raids. Indies don't restrict themselves to watch the player list and then jump into the game once the a raid starts or a counter is needed. Indies keep the game alive with surprises, both positive and negative ones, and in many cases, they deliver more fun than certain official factions.

Irrelevant snipey rabble. I don't see how this doesn't mean people can't just create local indies. And perhaps bar Order, I strongly disagree that indies have been doing more in the Omicrons that their Official counterparts. But hey, regardless of our gripes, I'd say even in that case Order| still contributes to the region far more positively than random foreign caps do.

I do feel we rather have a problem with the general permission to engage nomads anywhere. I'd rather see that being "Can engage Nomads anywhere outside Omicrons" instead of giving people the free ticket to just go to Delta and throw battleships at indies who don't even have access to Marduks. That or removing the damn Nomad BS NPC missions in Delta - they are jokes thanks to the new missiles. Nomad Hunters should feel the danger of entering the Nomicrons to get nomad remains, not just move to Delta, take a mission and blow Marduks up from a distance safely by using battleship missiles.

I would like to see that line gone as it has huge potential for abuse and makes every ID a better Nomad hunting ID than the Order ID.

I don't see the point of this thread. People have the right to bring whatever ship they want to wherever they want. It may not be safe for said ship but they can bring it. I've had to kill LNS ships flying around omicron minor as order. There was a case of a blind jumper valor who ended up in the same system i was flying in. Was a interesting encounter.
There was valors in ny, couple of nephs in new London. We just scream in e-chat, log ships and killed them.
They don't usually come back. If they do then we kill them again. That's the end of it.

Being able to take ships outside of your ZoI is not a right. It's a privilege. And people are abusing this privilege. Furthermore, do people not get it? You're admitting it's a problem and saying that we should just shoot them instead of finding a permanent solution. This isn't a constructive way to deal with the issue.

Our player-base is actually growing again. This change will encourage people to make local ships and contribute to activity, which will increase the player-count further.

You argue that this change shouldn't be implemented because a minority of players can take caps outside of their ZoI responsibily. At the same time, you argue that this change shouldn't be implemented because only a minority of people (which I'm sure isn't true btw) are tired of having to deal with their and others caps outside of their ZoI. This is cherry-picking.

Discovery is not working perfectly well. It's extremely annoying to deal with these caps and people don't want to treat them inRPly and just want to nuke them on sight. It's not a healthy way to deal with the issue. But, however, we can see that The Core ID IS working extremely well with this restriction. No lolwut Makos in New York. Going somewhere outside of your ZoI to do missions is just as bad as going outside of your ZoI to bait players or be stupid.

am I missing the point of this thread? it seem this is all based really on the interactions of caps in delta? if that the case It seems that this is nothing more then trying to get people to bolster the numbers of Order, Core, or what ever faction that ids relevant for that system to be able to play in it like it is some sort of cover charge . Loyola I can not see a intel agency bringing a cap ship that would be more snub or maybe a gunboat as a com interceptor. kind of hard to explain away why a battleship from a intel agency is skulking around, that not very intelly
