Quote:Blood Dragon ship flying Wild would be cool.
Oh yeah, that would be awesome! Next in line is Bounty Hunter infected gunship.. And then.. Some Catamarans would be nice too.
Oh, and Sabre with Nomad weaponry would be grand too.
I know, I know, epic rant.

I think you guys bickering about the Keepers is a waste of energy. They work, they're improving, but remember they're only human! Errm, I mean nomad...
Maybe it's just me, but I think there isn't any roleplaying you can do as a nomad. The only thing you CAN do is shoot humans..shoot humans... ummm... and oh, shoot humans ! And babble in system chat about. **we see light**. Same thing goes for terrorists (except for the Xenos).

Only to be told that "it's not a no answer, keep working on it". Hours a day for over a month, allmost two, when others are sometimes accepted in a matter of days with less in-game activity or forum rp than i had.
***Suffice to say that roleplaying in game is more important than making posts on forums.***
So where are they? I've stayed up til 7am many times, trying to refine the story or catch a Keeper in-game, so yea, did the staying up 24/7 JUST for 1 line of RP before they quickly logged out as if to avoid any rp at all. It's not like keepers really even have a regular presence on the server, they log in, make a raid somewhere, then log out. Woo, lotta chances for other "nomads" to rp with keepers even when they are online.
I started at the bottom. I was humble, asking questions, decyphering, researching, altering the story even though i didnt want to. I was patient, waiting over a month. I tried not to rush things, waiting, waiting, waiting, more waiting. I researched everything i could find. I only gave up after feeling like Treewyrm and his minions have something personal against me, which it now seems is obvious with things being said like: "some people" or "for other people" or "Still, new members are accepted from time to time, for example three players were accepted recently." obviously targeting me by saying "anyone and everyone but you" is it cuz im american? Too old? Not part of your clique? Do i need to make a server donation? What is it that makes me so freakin "evil" and "unwanted" by you and your posse?
If its about trust and possibly being a pvp whore, HA, i think you should know by now that i am not a pvp whore... People can do that every minute of every day in newyork or any other system as normal characters, why would i take the time to write and rp as a nomad while getting shot BY them and every other npc, if all i wanted to do was pvp?
***Suffice to say that roleplaying in game is more important than making posts on forums.***
No offense, but i'll suggest the same thing here that someone did with RM, if Treewyrm is so "busy" with forum rp, modding, writing nomad rp/a book, life, whatever. Then maybe he should pass the in-game leadership to someone who's accually plays in-game on a regular basis rather than just for a quick pvp or rp raid. Example: Group of Keepers Login-> Iota-> Delta-> Minor-> Alaska-> NY-> (insert some rp, a few kills, and 15-20 minutes) back to Iota-> Log out.

Oh, and its kinda hurting the RP of Order characters too. We can't interact with or fight this "VASTLY growing threat to humanity" when they are never around, and we are not supposed to openly attack BH or liberty, so i suspect this is why Bs| is somewhat inactive. The last time i was my Order character and DID see a keeper in-game, 3 nomad bombers and im in a capship, ha, they flew right past me like i wasnt even there, i was so shocked i didnt know what to do. It's about anyone who RP's as Nomad/Order and wants to do more than sit around chatting or fighting npc nomads. So from my point of view it's not just about "being" a nomad or my specific playtime anymore.
***We don't mix our personal matters with roleplay.***
So yea, i gave up and grew hateful, when what i was getting is an obvious "screw you, your friends, AND your other characters". So the nomads i cared so much for died and i went back to having fun again instead of wasting my time waiting and trying to rp with an almost non-exsistant (from my pov) group.
***Suffice to say that roleplaying in game is more important than making posts on forums.***
***Keepers are allowed to attack on sight any target other than Nomads (not even NPCs)***
Have Keepers/Nomads ever abandoned a pure nomad and left it to die in-rp? Or even killed one by NOT helping it when they knew it needed thier help and it was less than 2k from ***home...***?
If not, then by inaction/inactivity you allowed these two pure nomads to be the first. Hoorah.
Faction's Post Date: Nov 15 2007
I have been playing here nearly that long, and i don't really consider Keepers a "new" or "active" faction. Sorry, in my opinion your just not in-game enough to support the massive and specific rp you write and lay claim over. Plus by being so restrictive and specific your cutting out alot of possible RP from the good indys that could fill that space when "keepers" arent around.
Wow. That just changed my view of RPing as a Nomad (Keeper) completely. That just outright sucks, that's it. I was thinking of *attempting* to join the Keepers faction but after reading your post I think I just lost faith in trying. I mean I know it wouldn't be easy to get into the Keepers (especially because I am new here) but that's ridiculous.
I mean when I first started playing Freelancer way back when and saw a Nomad for the first time I was pretty much mesmerized by their mysteriousness and I had wanted to try to play as one. Discovery does give you the option of playing as one and its probably one of the few mods that does, but that's, as I said before, ridiculous, insane even.
Maybe one day I will try to join the Keepers but for now I think I'll stick to Freelancing and see what happens.
Well....You all have just made my decision. I am making an Indy Wilde...You watch...It's not that hard...and its the BEST way to approach the Wilde. Group in my personal opinion for membership. I did the same for my Xenos char. I flew it for a few months before I even approached the XA for membership, as did Spear. Who had prolly been the oldest indy Xenos out there. Now he's a hatchling as I was till recently in XA. However, XA was extremely glad to have the both of us, since we had ALREADY built the RP for our chars IN GAME AND ON THE FORUMS. Then when we wanted in, it was a matter of figuring out the process for absorption rather than coming up with a cool story off the top of my head. I am an ok writer and very inventive, however, I have been thinking of making a Wilde char, and well to prove to you all that you JUST HAVE TO PUT FORTH EFFORT AND RP, and you will find its MUCH easier to get things you want done... or to join a faction or group its the same way. Make a character, fly it out there and get it seen and talk to others...if you have a hard RP it proves you are TRYING HARDER! See ya in my WHILDE CHAR SOON!!!!

It's also wrong. Getting into the Keepers is not a hard thing. Writing suitable RP is not difficult. You just have to wait, be patient, and listen to the feedback and be willing to line up with the Roleplay that is being developed...and before anyone says..it's not just Treewyrm that is making it. It's all the Keepers. And never give up. Snapp gave up after one month? That barely enough time to START understanding. And when you get to that point of understanding, once that thing CLICKS for you, you'll get into the Keepers.
The Keepers:
are fun to be part of,
are a difficult race to roleplay, so that other *Humans* can see it,
can be rewarding,
take time to develop and get into good roleplay,
can be a creative outlet for alternative or non-human roleplay,
ships are not to be scoffed at,
are not for any lazy, rushy, give-uppy or disrespectful people. It just will not work for you,
do not roleplay mindless drones with a dictatorial overmind. That is a complete misunderstanding of what a Nomad is,
require Everything. And Nothing. That is for you to figure out.
Actually, that sounds like most factions when you boil it down.
Chucc, I wish you good luck with that. I suspect you might have a difficult time with it.
Sovereign Wrote:Seek fun and you shall find it. Seek stuff to Q_Q about and you'll find that, too. I choose to have fun.
Well, seeing such negative post from Snapp I feel like explaining a bit to the auditory so they might get a better understanding. Firstly I'd like to note that the fact the person grows personal hatred towards me, my characters (some are just independents not related in any fashion to the nomads or wilde) and other faction members is very wrong, and as stated does not go along with the membership. I cannot exactly tell what and how things were discussed in private, but I had a strong feeling that a viewpoint completely different from the one we maintain was attempted to push through. Mostly it just proves my point in necessity of the strict procedures of applying into the faction, as well as the privacy policy. I have to know person to trust him or her, so that issues in game and on forum can be solved in peaceful manner and nobody would put over their personal hatred towards individuals or groups of individuals both in-game and outside of the game. I strongly believe that this is very important to keep in mind. Another thing to note that the Keepers faction is neither open nor closed faction. You don't need to be invited into it to try, but neither you can be accepted on open basis. Under these terms the faction was made after lengthy consulting with admins and Igiss.
Now, as regards activity, we are quite active. An hour or so ago there were six of us online, and that's not even the maximum we reach at weekends at times. And were online for weeks almost every day. Not every faction around have that activity even. Myself and the members of the faction have a lot of playhours under their belt, so saying that the faction does not exist and inactive is very very far from truth. For example my nomad character combined have 500+ hours on them, is that not enough to be qualified as active?
And I have no hard feelings towards Snapp, if that's his view, well, I'm sorry, but I do have requirements for applicants too. Hence some can prove themselves quicker than the others, there are many factors, such as history of being in other factions, testimonials from other players, their opinions, what applicant personally thinks on many topics, some of which are not even related to FL but rather in general how they understand the game and gaming in general, what their preferences are, what things are important for them and what are not, and so on, the list can go lengthy. But for those who are showing aggression, impatience and qualities generally not welcome there suspicious as to the honesty of the intents and the exact reasons arise, resulting in delays to make sure what exactly an applicant seeks there, and how he or she is likely to behave as a member. I'd like to put emphasis on the fact that sometimes membership of an applicant is affected from the outside. For example I receive positive feedback from individual players or group of players as regard this or that applicant, so I definitely listen to their opinion and suggestions, because I believe it is not strictly and only my decision that decides the result.
Since it has gone past the original topic into somewhat of a discussion of our membership policy - feel free to ask your questions.
' Wrote:Again, how do you write an RP for somthing that just kills humans.
If you're thinking that all they can do is that then you're quite wrong. There are many cool things to play with, to experiment with, for example one of our members a sometime ago did a scouting run into liberty space. There he met a character, whom he roleplayed with, thankfully the player behind was a good roleplayer too, so they it going like the Nomad was messing with the mind of that character, he started seeing visions, odd things and at the end what happened is when the forces came to investigate the source they found that character attacking them instead believing they are the Nomads, as in hallucinating. It was done entirely in roleplay and many saw it. Some participated, while others kept watching the roleplay scene. Everything was improvised, no plans or anything happened, we don't even know who was playing that character. So, there many things and ways, just be creative and improvise. Then there is a special relation between them and Outcasts too. So it is clearly not that simplified as some assume it to be until they get more experience from various sides.
As for the tip, I'm afraid things remain as they are, since it's the policy, and one of the base and important element the faction keep working on and was made into the game. The story helps them to understand the Nomads, sometimes people put interesting and useful ideas into them, some of which we incorporate into our roleplay upon the acceptance of the person who proposed such idea, but sometimes not, in case of inconsistency with existing material and style. The story is also a good method to help person to understand the concepts of the nomad roleplay, it helps the applicant to see and define his or her character more clearly. Finally some, who have previously didn't like storywriting much, found something interesting there that ticked their mind and they found enjoyment in storywriting in general, not even specifically Nomad-related themes, which is definitely a positive thing.
