On this subject, it's really an FLMM issue - I posted it on the FLMM issue tracker and will hassle the developer of FLMM until it gets changed. This probably won't happen quickly but it will happen.

This issue can be worked around...generally it is related to Vista and UAC. As long as you run FLMM as administrator (including when you double click on the mod to load it into FLMM, i.e. run FLMM as adminstrator first then double click) you shouldn't have problems. Incidentally, turning off UAC will generally make all Vista and FL problems go away.

That's the funny thing, I'm using XP (and as admin).

Darn, well next time this happens, can I see a screen shot of the FLMM log area. It'll help figure out what's going wrong.

1st. Do not use the DSupdate.exe. Then use the FLMM (v1.3)to install the 4.85 mod (final version). To then play, use the original freelancer shortcut that is in your start menu.

PS.don't use FLMM version 1.4. it has been known to cause a few issues.

Hey there, let's see if we can get this going. Could you please answer these questions.

Are you running Vista?

Are you running in an administrator account or a standard user account?

In general you probably need to do this:

1. When opening Freelancer Mod Manager to activate mod do not double click or click from start menu, rather right click the item and select Run as Administrator (this is the critical step!!)

2. If you see any other discovery mod versions in FLMM, click the delete button.

3. Click "restore backups" in FLMM.

4. Then double click on the downloaded discovery485.zip.flmod file to load it into FLMM.

5. Now try to activate the mod.

If any of these steps fail then post another screen shot of the failure.
