I think this is a good idea to trial, partly in response to the problems I raised a while ago in this thread http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?sh...=46968&st=0 and I think the more sceptical members of the community should be slightly less paranoid and have more faith in the very small number of factionalised capital ships in existence (BAF| : 1/2 active battleships, 5/6 active destroyers) to be responsible in not sending huge fleets after the occasional smuggler. You might perhaps see us parking a stationary BAF Battleship across the Stokes Lane in Leeds to turn back blockade runners, but if there's any chasing going to be done I think you can guarentee it'll be ships that actually have thrusters and CDs doing it - i.e. the most that large capital ships are going to become is a deterrant to smugglers, not hunting them.
Also, I would like to remind people that:
A) This is a trial and subject to review and
B) Official factions have feedback forums where you can file official complaints for all to see if you don't like the way they use ANY of their official faction rights. So I wish people would stop whining about potential faction abuses of power on threads like this and instead save their complaints for our feedback forums in the few cases where such abuses actually take place, if ever. To my recollection no offical faction has as yet lost it's status due to deemed abuse of any of the new set of Official Faction Rights.
P.S. actual point of my post: Why is Edinburgh not considered Bretonian House Space in the thread? Fair enough if it isn't, it just seems slightly odd, being treated at least as core as Dublin by most people. Vanilla system and all.
I think the onus now rests on the factions that have been allowed this special dispensation to establish why they should maintain this power as it now stands rather than looking to expand it even more.
Quasi-house factions don't really come into it. The systems on the list are meant to represent the civilised hub of Sirius - the major trade centres, population clusters, developed planets - that kind of thing. Considering the systems are referenced on the forum, the shorter and more comprehensive the list the better until such time as we can get every rule somehow wired into game mechanics.
