For the longest time I was active in the maltese fleet, under the patronage of the head of my family, Fabia Cervantes. However my family pulled its active support of the Maltese Navy 6 months ago, resulting in the decommission of the Ranseur-class dreadnought "La Sagrada Familia", which was under my command. This decision was not one I could support, and I followed the only course I could: I broke ties with my family and is now left with no house, no home. I therefore pledge my life to the true sons of Malta, the 101st, in the hope you will accept me in your ranks, and that I - in time - will be able to call the 101st my home.
I have included a limited biography and a combat evaluation, both of which are from the Maltese Navy's archives, and appended an excerpt from the chronicles of the family I once was a part of (//click my sig).
Nunzio Cervantes (Born 756 A.S. / Age 62)
Growing up in the shadow of his failed grandfather Nunzio has always felt like an outcast to his family, looking to the Navy as something to hold on to. His grandfather, Quirino Cervantes, had previously agitated the family to venture into the Navy but suffering a crushing defeat and a loss of the family's flagship in 738 A.S., Nunzio's grandfather stood as an example of failure and is even in the present day the subject of ridicule within the family. This stigma had followed Nunzio all his life, culminating in the decomissioning of the dreadnought under his command earlier this year.
As a form of personal penance for his forefather's failure Nunzio joined the Maltese Navy in 774 A.S. at a time where the head of the family strongly advised the family not to join the Navy, publicly using the example of Nunzio's grandfather. This was a further humiliation of Nunzio, who instead devoted himself full-heartedly to the Navy. However with the Maltese Nation's demand for a stronger Navy, Nunzio's position was soon recognized as a seat of power by the rest of the family, and in 785 A.S. he was offered a position in the governing body of the family, to the dismay of the head of the family, Fabia Cervantes. Rumours say the she deliberately burdened Nunzio with various family-related tasks to make sure he was planet-bound, and for 30 years the two butted heads regarding the family's engagement in the Maltese Navy. After having been grounded on Planet Malta for 30 years, Nunzio finally managed to gather enough supporters among the rest of the family to use some of their enormous wealth to construct a Dreadnought, based on the new Maltese designs, and in 817 A.S. he assumed command of the vessel.
The ship operated with a fair amount of success for more than 6 months before Fabia Cervantes managed to sway the rest of the family to give up this venture, as it didn't bring the family any income. Enraged with her decision, Nunzio broke with the family and sought refuge on the newly founded Torino Base in Gallia. Other estranged family members managed to raise enough credits to provide Nunzio with a Sabre, and he has since be honing his rusty skills, with the hope of one day re-joining the Maltese Navy and gain the glory and honour he lost in the eyes of his family.
Nunzio is introvert and cautious, prefering to listen rather than talk. Life has taught him not to stick out his neck too far, and that is not going to change on his older days. Always following orders to the letter, Nunzio has been an asset to the Maltese Navy, however the signs of aging are showing and his senses and reactions aren't up to standards. As a result, Nunzio would do best in a fighter wing, rather than flying solo.
Guilt is a driving factor for Nunzio - it is what helps him excel the most, as he wants to prove his family wrong, but at times the guilt becomes so overwhelming that he loses focus on the task at hand.
Well I spend a lot of time whining/complaining/posting my points of view on the forum, and I thought it was high time that I give something back. I always had a soft spot for the Outcasts, both in Vanilla and in Disco, and I spent a fair amount of time reading infocards and forum posts regarding Outcast lore and dispositions.
Never been a part of any official factions, and I have mostly been playing low-key indies, as my role-playing skills aren't that über. Neither are my PVP-skills I might add, and I was hoping I could improve both through being a part of the 101st.
