As i said, they are already useless. If you don't like it how people use cloaks, then we need limitations or new rules, not nerfs.
For example. If you cloak and escape from a battle, you can't reengage or it should count as PvP dead. Same counts for Jump devices.
The cloak is a multi-million credit countermeasure though folks! Stealth is, and can be used for entering a situation or leaving one. I'm tired of people complaining about people using cloaks to escape. The only people successfully doing this are the ones that are good at it. You can't easily escape with any cloak but the light cloak, and for that they only get a minute tops depending on the ship. Oh muffin. If you can't catch someone trying to use a medium or large cloak to escape, you're not close enough or not paying attention to that ship at the time (or you ran out of CD's, and they lived long enough to wear you down, which is the same, cuz then they could cruise away regardless). I've used confusion in battle to cloak and slip out many times. If I go and dock somewhere where no one saw, and get out and get back, too bad sooo sad, i'm really sorry, but thats why cloaks or so expensive. Honestly I don't know why they simply havn't increased the price of construction of them if its such a big problem. People who fall disadvantaged by cloaks will always complain they are 'op'. Sorry, but if you lose a kill because of a cloak, its not OP. Everyone always blames the things that make their job harder as being 'op'. Well its not, its exotic stealth technology, there are ways to beat it you just have to be good enough to do so. Its not op, its being good, and i'm sure that will anger other players, who's only defense is "oh i didn't win there, it must be OP that they did that". No, I use my cloak to escape all the time, think i sank 400 mil into it to be punked by some newb in a fighter or bomber that put maybe 15-20 mil into their ship with possibly a fraction of time on the server than I? To me, the NEED to get the kill EVERY time is OP, after all, this is an RP server, so if you interacted, that was the point. As far as i see it, inrp, my char wants to survive and keep his ship, not worry about if the other person is gonna get their kill that the NEED to enjoy the game. Even if a ship gets away from me, I'm happy I at least got to scare them and fire my guns in vain!
The point of getting and using JD's and Cloaks IN ACTION is to employ their advantages. They are funtional for a reason, and NO, they are not just on the server for "RP' purposes. I know some people would prefer they only be here for show and roleplay purposes. This is a video game, as turrets have a functional purpose, so do cloaks. The only players that would stop and say 'hey, no fair!' when a ship gets away due to cloak or JD, are the types that just don't know the price tag, or the time and effort that goes into making one. It is fair. Buy one or hire some escorts folks. Escaping JD ships? Kudos to them all, that's brilliant space warfare tactics right there. I'm jealous! And I can admit it, maybe we need players to change their attitudes and admit they're just jealous of players using this stuff to its fullest potential. Other players' jealousy seems to be the biggest motivational tool around here when it comes to ramming through threads to pursue changes to equipment (that the posting player doesn't even use, etc). Seen it too many times. Its supposed to motivate you to work harder in the game to be able to do the same thing! Not post 'nerf this or nerf that' threads that wind up getting a whole system overhauled that doesn't need it.
