& just a little more logic to throw in for good measure:

When the colonists left Europe for the Americas they brought their knowledge & traditions with them, along with a fair amount of cargo.

They didn't start over from scratch...they just changed over time

So, it stands to reason that when building a sleeper ship, they would load their ships database with as much cultural info as they could fit.

up to and including (for example) the 'ring around the rosy' nursury rhyme that has it's origins from way back in the black plague days

Quote:Just as a reminder,
Things like Chardonnay, Truth Serum, REAL Marajuana (Synth exists), Cocaine, Tequila...

Most plants, animals, and drugs from Earth are not in Sirius...

Totaly dissagree, man would have replacements for all this stuff, Even if the wine wasn't realy made from grapes anymore doesn't mean it isn't still called Chardonnay. Know for a fact chardonay and Tequila are available in Bounty Hunter bars, have headache to prove it:nyam:
Also if there was no such thing as real Marajuana how long would it take before the Synthetic name would be dropped.( this request should be wispered to bartender with tip).

And yes that mean growly thing with me is called a Dog.

Booze would be around, and names like tequila would certainly be applied to new versions. People would have attempted to replicate such things pretty quickly.

I always thought that we would've brought a lot of useful stuff with us to Sirius. Seeds for all our staple crops would've come along with us, including those used to brew or distill various types of alcohol. I believe that Grapes would've been one of those staples, since wine making is a major industry in some parts of the US (and Britain, if I'm not mistaken) with the right climate. If people are still smoking (and they are), then tobacco would've probably come along, as well. Either that, or that thief from the SP campaign was smoking some analog to it. In addition, various useful animals would've been included (cattle, chickens, goats, dogs, etc.), frozen in embryonic form at the very least.

Things such as those would've been WAY too useful to leave behind when leaving Earth.

In addition, I don't doubt that various important historical relics came along, too. Things such as the US Constitution and Declaration of Independence, the British Crown Jewels, as well as things important to the Japanese and Germans. They would've been included just to keep them from the Coalition, if for no other reason.

On the contrary, it clearly says in the description infocard for Luxury Foods to the effect that "...some gene backed plants and animals unexpectedly flourished in their newfound environments...", implying that many of earth's native species would have been brought along. At the very least, those that would be important to humans for food, and probably various others to seed virgin worlds' ecosystems to make them more suitable for human life.

Obviously, some wouldn't have made it (synth pot, for starters.) but it makes sense. What would the colinists have done if there were NO planets with arible soil or appropriate biospheres for earth life? You'd need at the VERY least, trees and foliage to be planted on a large scale to make oxygen. Various wildlife which would be important to the survival of said trees, food crops and livestock for eating, and probably domesticated animals for simple companionship.

All that begins must end.

May I question why you are assuming that they were never brought from Earth?

Do realize that launching off in a sleeper ship isn't a random announcement. It takes years of planning and the people bound of go off on those things probably knew before the ships were fully operational.

Of course crops and other human necessities would be brought along with them. Don't be silly.

Walker = pwned.
Sorry. Couldnt resist.

Take a look around at the other infocards Walker. There are many
supporting ones that indicate many things were brought from Earth, both
as DNA / gene records, or actual seeds and cryofrozen animals. At the
very least the chemical makeup of certain things would've been included
in their knowledge banks. IT wouldnt be a stretch to think they can find
other things and make replacements for those that didnt flourish.

As well as new things being discovered its ALSO quite possible that due to
Pot being classified as "illegal" right now on Earth, knowing humanities
tendencies to break rules, the odds are that someone actually brought
some pot with them, but of course, they wouldnt say so. Unless overall
guiding thought patterns have changed in the last 800 years.

Today, there are alcohol recepies that are hundreds & hundreds of years old...& just because over 800 years have past in Sirius since humans left earth does not mean that the knowledge of distilling alcohol suddenly & magically dissapears...
