Yea, this is nowhere near finished yet. I'll still be tweaking it for a while.
Two main parts I'm toying with some ideas for are the cockpit and the powercore. The cockpit is just a c/p from Wraith as a placeholder for the time being, and I'm not really happy with the current pcore, so will probably try a few different ideas to see which works best (not adding too much weight and profile to its already heavy tail is a bit of a concern, as already mentioned, so that might be a bit tricky).
Any specific suggestions are of course more than welcome.
So this is what happens if you Wraith drinks too much beer?
Looks good, the additional armor makes it look different enough from a Wraith. Maybe add some of it to the bottom as well?
Uploaded v0.4 - Refined the powercore and added some detail to the top armor plate. Those are the final tweaks to the body (for now) until the cockpit is done.
this looks weird with the powercore being so big and the wings tilted at an assymetrical angle, even though the phantom's wings are 45 degrees, it looks solid.
v0.5 is up.
Next up on the to-do list would be doing some cleanup, minor refinements and poly reduction on the mesh, then diving into textures.
If you have any feedback regarding the general looks of the model, now would be a good time to post, as it won't really be ideal to go back and do major changes to the mesh past this point.
The cockpit looks like Doomguy's helmet visor, I like. Also making the powercore a-bit shorter wouldn't hurt because it still bulges out like a big tumour.

The powercore is actually the same size as Wraith. In fact, Wraith's pcore extrudes out farther back because of the gear hardpoints and also has a larger "tumor-ish" proportion to its main body.
Red: Wraith - Cyan: Valkyrie Mk. II
Scaling the pcore down would give this thing a smaller side profile than Wraith, which wouldn't make much sense (and scaling the whole thing up to compensate for a smaller pcore will push the front and top profiles into bomber territory), and I personally don't really think the pcore is too big. It sure is big (as intended), but not too big imho.
Additionally, one possible reason the pcore might be dragging too much attention away from the main hull is because the ship isn't textured yet. Once the textures are done, most of the details will be around the cockpit and the main body, which would indirectly balance out the visual porportions.
