So yeah, I know that Freelancer was meant to be so much more than it is now.

But that video doesn't really look all that amazing. It looks the same as what we've got today, just with a slightly different user interface. So I don't know what's so interesting about that particular video.

But it just shows some of the many things that were cut out of Freelancer after Microsoft took over. One of the other posts lists some of the content.

I'll just blame them for the new version of skype as well. Freelancer could have been so much better. Just look at 1.25 in that vid. the 'thunder cloud' system. I'd F1 a ship there just to look at it from time to time.

Dunno how much of it is actual concept art from FL or fan made.
At least it shows that the Republican Shipping uniform (which I always found strikingly imperial military style) was actually meant to be a military uniform :D
Seems that quite a lot of characters were cut/repurposed from the actual concept.

Freelancer supposed to be BIG. What Call of Duty was to the FPS genre, except with 10 times the awesome. Microsoft had to ruin it all. If only the original Freelancer was completed...
