' Wrote:There are good pirates; there are bad pirates. There there are those for whom piracy is just an excuse to procure targets, and see how fast they can shoot down a transport and such. My only regret when I meet those is that F1ing is illegal, because that would be the only thing to do. They don't care if you don't pay (actually they HOPE that you don't), and they (obviously) don't care about RP, so refusing to interact with them won't stop them. They only want their blue message, and unfortunately the rules prevent you from depriving them of it. When I meet the lolwuts, I just stop watching the screen until I hear the explosion. They won't know that I didn't see them, but at least I didn't waste my attention on them.
Well. Seriously? We have enough (silent) Powertraders who refuses to pay 1 or 2 millions when they earn 8 or 10 millions per run. Thats why we need the F1 rule....

You missedmy point entirely. I have no issues with REAL pirates, I pay them often. My issues are with the triggermongers that use piracy just as an excuse to shoot me.
Duuude, think... Lolwuts pirates who don't give a damn about RP or tax too much (they don't understand the business rule: DO NOT kill your cash cow:P) are as normal in Disco, as normal are huge amounts of stupid people in the real world.
It's not even unrealistic that they are on Disco in huge numbers, cause it WOULD be unrealistic if most pirates in Disco would be wise, reasonable and in some way 'fair to traders'.
Let's be serious: MOST of the criminals in real world are very stupid people, who don't really THINK till it's just too late - then they cry, spend years in jail or simply die.
Back to Disco: if you choose to NOT avoid them by taking other trading routes, you STILL can deal with them in the hardest possible way, you got 3 options here:
1. fastest: in nearest House system hire 1 or even 2 mercs and fly with them THE SAME ROUTE to show your power and possibly make those stupid individuals die very fast. From my experience most players that choose mercenary career are ABOVE AVERAGE in PVP skills and should put to sleep those poor bastards FAST.
2. quite fast - if your character "likes the Police:P": in nearest House system tell the cops about them. If pirates 'work' in the ZoI (Zone of Influence) of the cops it's possible that cops with deal with them. But it's not that simply as hiring mercs and many cop-players have only AVERAGE PvP skills. At least I think so:P
3. slow but UGLY:P(read: the best:D): make a bounty on forum on their stupid heads, collectable a few times. If the pirates are active players and you'll spend fair money on bounty, there will be quite a few mercenaries trying to get them everyday. And they will suffer - you can count on that.
Enough from me.
The basic rule in those situations is the only one and it's very SIMPLE: always use the ingame RP-possibilities based on other players and their characters and YOU WILL WIN IN MOST CASES. Good luck.
HIRE ESCORTS
it has been said before , i say it again
i live off piracy (both inrp as in real life)
and it has been months since i actually saw a transport accompanied by a escort wing
*it's more fun for the trader
*it's more fun for the escort
*believe it or not , it's more fun for the pirate
invest that initial 2 mill into some mercs , or some freelancers (who are most of the time bored cuz nobody hires them) and you will see your business empire blossom... or something like that
at least you will see some nice lazerpew action , and surprised pirates running off with their tail behind their legs.
Depends.
Are you passing those pirates with a fresh cargo-hold each time?
Some pirates don't even pirate entirely for the profit.
Just imagine you're trying to smuggle blood diamonds into liberty and a Navy patrol fines you each and every time you pass there.
For example if a Hessian sees you carrying slaves to somewhere, he will take your whole cargo-hold each and every time you pass, there would be no limit on how often he does that.
Role-play wise he would even shoot your ship after some time, i guess, if you commence to enslave workers.
Which brings me to a question... but i guess this is the wrong thread to ask, gonna open a new one in the rules section.

But seriously. You knew they were there, why did you go same route? Take a JH, fly above/below plane, try a completely new route.
Because it's easier to expect that the pirates would completely ignore you the second time, instead of actually doing something clever and changing the route?
Now if there was a way to incorporate a bounty on head in such a manner(approved by a bounty board for a limited amount of time : LOL get it ? bounty board)
Then if that person dies they lose 100k.
