Nice idea, tho I'm still voting on my previous suggestion, namely, to make ALL equipment take cargo space... powerplants, engines... shield generators... and not be locked by tier..

that way, you can turn lib carrier into supertransport, and make shire a battleship;)

giving more power to the tranports while sacrifying cargo capacity, that sounds more reasonable than previous attemps of empowering the transports in exchange of nothing... could be a semi-decent idea...

Well i do like this Idea, it would be abused by a ton of Pirates in P-trans. So good idea, but Disco is just to childish to not abuse it.

Yes, yes, and yes. Transports should be able to be made into something one would take into battle. I don't know why it hasn't been done yet. Ships are not linear things, they can be used for many different purposes and be adapted by their pilots to suit such purposes. For xenos, we make battle-transports due to not having gunboat usage. It'd be sweet to be able to sacrifice some cargo and truly make them battle-transports.

Also, p-trans abusing this.. We already have cruiser pirates, this would be not as bad as pirating in a cruiser.

Not a bad idea or hellfire rockets for them. I would love to have the pelican all charged up that is a mean lil ship if you know how to fly /outfit it. Great idea now to just make it happen........

I guess you have the main idea- the proper cargo rates and gun/missile/shield rates should be brainstormed by the Dev team. I know that is is hard to balance and one could just say ok better take escort or scout but this second tier more powerful guns would make transport class more customisable and general more fun to play- it would eliminate the boring balance- "one transport dies vs one bomber"
This idea would give convoys better options vs Bombers and would make Transport pirates scary again since the P-transp got nerfed and GB buffed so Transport Prates just disappeared. Comments?

I like any idea that will increase the fun in flying transports.
Additions that will render it more interesting are highly welcome.
I like all your suggestions.

I'd like to add that transports should be able to mount (weakened) Flaks to defend themselves against Novas. Especially those transports that cannot have ECMs (which is in itself simply stupid, as a transport cannot fight but has to run and cannot run because the slot is missing). Doing more than zooming out and pewing with you type 3 or 4 boomsticks and thus more challenging thrill in flying transports in conflicts would be sooo cool.

Ptrans pirates have never been more successful than now. Slap a CAU8 on it, a cloak and you are as close to invincibility as you can get in Disco.

True, but could be fixed by limiting the cargo space for unlawful transports that (if we are honest) are pew-toys and not "transports" (with a main focus on transporting cargo) in itself. Ptrans needs a cargo nerf anyway so it cannot stay cloaked for 20 hours (exaggeration on purpose) and liners/Ptrain have no CD... so that's no problem really.

Or (edit): Make the Ptrans like any normal transport (not more guns, more armor, CD, more of everything like now) but allow it the choice to get more guns, or remain useful as a transport, or get long cloak time.
