Not likely. Not unless you're sent a file that you open. Don't worry about it. Though they likely could see your IP address allowing them to DDOS you. But that's extremely unlikely because there is simply no reason for them to commit a criminal offence just to lag you.
Who ever is DDOSing the server has something against it. Maybe a rival mod, an X admin, banned player, etc.

So you are basically suggesting that we all commit a crime to stop someone from committing a crime? Not the best idea in my opinion. Let's try to avoid that kind of talk even as a joke. Also, it would be a good idea not to post speculation about who might be responsible for this. If anyone has CREDIBLE evidence, please pass it to the admin team either via PM or here. Otherwise let's not point any fingers without proof.

So long as you've got up to date patches and antivirus (and your OS hasn't spectacularly cocked up their security settings), you should be fine. To turn a computer into a zombie, the attacker needs to install malware that handles the DDoS. Feel free to give your machine another scan just to be sure, but it'll probably be fine.

has the server then got out of date virus checkers etc?
Hey
I rly think they got some signature...either plain text(kiddos love that) or something similar in the packets, or target. it's rly hard to make truly unique attacks.
Can you talk with someone who knows iptables or send a bit of tcpdump to me?
I'm sure that it's blockable by iptables.
