There is no right answer and anybody trying to tell you otherwise isn't being truthful.

The rules for these things were never set by anyone. Discovery does not have Dungeon Masters.

This is free play multiplayer, for the most part. This means that people do as they like. I'll give you another example. O-49. Info card says that nobody in Dublin has yet discovered the jumhole into O-49. But in game, everybody knows and everybody has been in there, from IMG to QCP, to Bowex and Mollys. That's just the way it goes.

it's not like it's biased, like using some tech of it.

It just helped to make scientific brakethrought. The jumpgates themselves are human made, and not DK.

Quote:can t be done due to game mechanics
They said that back in .82 concerning the lights on ship and other things. Now look. I'm sure it's possible. And if not, can be made possible.

Concerning the topic, I'll just be repeating what has been said a few times over. I'd guess the people of Liberty know of Alaska, but don't have a clue as to what's going on in there. And the Nomads.. I've read in this thread that the Nomads have ventured into New York on several occasions ; True. But what I doubt is that the LN/LSF would send their victory or defeat against the Nomads straight to the Avarage Joe news. Perhaps reports could be written and stored for the higher ups, but to your avarage Joe, I'm guessing that at best, they're bedtime stories or things their parents use to get their children to do what they want.

Let's consult the infocard for Gran Canaria, shall we? This is the last sentence.

Quote:The relationship between the Zoners and Corsairs on the planet is largely cordial, but both groups are still wary of each other, mirroring the wider diplomatic situation between the two powers, especially since the Red Hessians, bounty hunters and even Bretonian scouts have landed on the planet in recent years.
Checkmate.

That has been the infocard since the release of 4.85. Bowex's Port Jackson RP (which was started after 4.85's release) was based off of that last line. We saw that Bretonian scouts had been there, and expanded on that. I think you'll notice that we've been politely doing everything the Zoners are afraid of. :P

EDIT:
Crap.... realized I'm completely off topic.

A FLHook solution on the Alaska gate wouldn't be a bad thing. Lock it down to everyone except LN, LSF, Order, and Nomads. As for who knows what, I think the others hit it on the head. Everybody knows that something's there, but very few know exactly what.
