To be honest, with the whole escort thing, it probably would be better if there was some way to force a pirate to destroy escorts before they can attack the transport.

I have tried escorting before and the chances of you actually killing the pirate before he blows up the transport is somewhere between zero and none.

Transports just can't soak up that much damage and unless the pirate plays ball (actually decides to destroy the escorts first) or is in a particularly rubbish ship or just generally rubbish at PvP (Which is unlikely since hes a pirate) then the transport usually goes up pretty quick.

Although on the terms of pirates going for blue messages I still get solo pirates trying to rob my LABC when they're in fighters. I get the distinct impression they're just seeing how long they can last against me. Which is about as realistic as a trader telling a pirate "Kill me I'm not paying". Either that or they have some delusion that large warships carry large sums of cash on them and will be willing to pay a pirate HF about 5 mil, which is also not exaclty realistic.

Most of the time, when a group of pirates blows you up the first time, and your moving through that system - your pvp dead, and not allowed to re-engage those that you were fighting - which means you cant defend yourself if fired upon (it becomes hard to prove whether it was self-defense or not, and depending on the screens, evidence can be misleading) - most pirates i've run into tend to ignore you our let you go - only once was this not the case. It's kind of a gentleman's agreement for pirates to not pirate you multiple times in a row - despite the fact that the rules allow them too.

Its just dickish to do so.

My advice would be - dont take it personally, dont worry about it, chalk it up to one of those things you have no control over. Otherwise the frustration and anger will just make things worse.

Unless you wanna buy a fighter\gb\cap and start trying to pew them in revenge - which is never a good idea.

Its a shame there are hardly any on the server. In my opinion the best escort ship.

Best pirate ship too- combine it with 2 P transps and you can kill almost everything. But it was in 4.85 now you cannot mount fighter turrets and transports have no defence vs subs now.:wacko:

I think every person new to the game makes a post like this. I think I made one, too =) It feels just bad at the beginning when you have 1 ship, you try to scrape some money... and you lose some of it.

I can only say: Piracy hurts less later. When you have more ships than you can fly, and 1 billion in credits... you don't care for 2 or 5 million. And if they are stupid, just run, fight, cd your cargo and sit still, troll... do what you want. It won't hurt much or not at all any more.

Good luck mastering the beginning of that game!

Meh, at least they were using a proper pirate IFF - instead of "Freelancer".

Fact of life, you get blown up from time to time. I had the misfortune of meeting a few lolwhuts in Omega 3 while on my Arrastra yesterday as well. Positive thing about lolwhuts is that they usually lack the skill to back up their outrageous demands. And the tactical insight that a SNAC equipped Arrastra can more then handle a PTransie...:haha:

Mostly i ignore these treads as they 90% only get flamed anyway. But in defence oif the pirates i think this is going about the same incident i was in i think last night.

These pirates did there job and did it well. A well sized force, believe a couple of bombers and fighters as it should be. Only thing missing was perhaps a P-train to scoop up some cargo.
They demanded a steep price from me but there explanation was valid, I'am flying for one of sirius latgest cooporations. So all in all we learned from our experience and choose to fly a different route. Iff we had a few more shires we would have pushed trough as we did so many times in the past. :P
