So, I've been away on an extended holiday on the two-way rifle range, and i come back and the first thing i see is some cheeky stripe taking a wander around om94.
we at Myrtos Villa take a dim view of such things.
I had the idea that if you enter a faction-owned system and do not have the correct IFF (in this case, corsair), you are swatted by the divide by zero device and sent back to the last place you docked at.
this would stop peeps from taking advantage of the home territory of opposing factions, and would create a market for code hunters to negotiate contracts with said faction; realism and RP in one move. Code sellers would prolly shoot at me for a while, until they realised that they could just set up /restart corsair ships (new characters are free in this game).
It'd make more sense to just remove codenames. They make no sense anyway. But I know that won't be considered, so instead I suggest making guard systems so heavily fortified that nothing hostile can get 5k beyond the entry jump hole.
I can't see the Corsairs negotiating with freelancers to allow them to take weapons which the Corsairs could use themselves.
[17:45:39] Wolfs Ghost (Murphy): Tom, you have problems. Go kill yourself.
[19:25:12] Johnny (Jam): Tomtom, I will beat you with a spoon.
[14:22:56] Prarabdh Thakur: KILL HIM WITH A SHEEP.
[17:40:48] Eagle (Junes): Tom should be slapped with a spoon.
[11:32:18] Warspite: Thank you for being so awesome Tom. <3
[18:17:36] Metano: I love you tomtom
[20:06:24] Warspite: I will seriously give you epic head.

If guard systems are so secret that someone entering or passing through them is enough to spoil people's days then I suggest deleting them and just keeping the super secret place in your head. I got plans with one of my guard systems that doesn't include a mystical magical barrier that teleports everyone to someone else's nether regions. There are two other guard system I paid hefty donations for and would prefer to see them placed into more open use as well but I'm stubborn about only being in a HC position of one faction so I don't make decisions in the others. In the end, if the devs approached me about the idea of eliminating guard systems letting the devs have at them and opening them to the public, my vote would be yes.
I would also make them more secured and remove all codes out of the guard system , I disagree of the OP statement, if you does not want any wreck to be looted go to guard it every-time when the server restart, and where the hell is difference if the gun will be sold from dealer if the dealer have freelancer iff or corsair one?
I am also for reducing the systems in general, on the 200 people server adding more systems is just stupid, but since there will be new useless empty Gallic systems in 4.86 then why to cut the official factions who worked hard to get guard system and paid for it?

(yes, i've seen enough of those lolduels, where house military with overwhelming force on the field willingly loses a pilot in a duel. ffs.)
As I mentioned I own a sizeable tract of real estate on Disco having made considerable contributions to the purchase and design of these guard systems. The amount of time and effort I and the others involved put into it can be summarized as a cake walk. I have a pet peeve about perfectly useable systems and ships being unused due to silly reasons. I have a history of fearlessly invading/tresspassing guard systems and I'm not motivated into creating game mechanics that fully and completely prevents others from entering any of mine. It's ridiculous. As it currently stands the gloves are fully off for the owners in guard systems. Use that to open up a can of pewpew on the offenders but to the devs; I implore you, don't cocoon systems with invisible force fields. If we reach that point I don't feel we deserve these systems.

removing the codes out of guard systems makes more sense than my original idea.
guard systems/home turf are a good place for inter- and intra-faction events; the sandbox means that rp isnt interrupted by other's desires for pvp
To be honest, a Guard System is the same as any other system, but very heavily defended. Now if someone can go in there with a proper reputation and survive...Hey good for him! It's not easy to do stuff in a guard system when properly repped; especially so for guard systems with fast firing guns. If you don't like someone there, try and kick him out. There's no reason a FL-Hook plugin should enforce your RP for you.
If you're training or something in there, though, and someone walks in on you with your pants down, it is kind of bad form. But then again, nothing should really stop them from "Discovering," you know?
[8:32:45 PM] Dusty Lens: Oh no, let me get that. Hello? Oh it's my grandma. She says to be roleplay.
[12:49:19 AM] Elgatodiablo: You know its nice that you have all that proof and all, Bacon... but I just don't believe you.
An accurate representation of my opinion on the idea of making ships explode upon entering a faction system.
You want to keep people out, get on your character and shoot them.
I should probably close this thread, but I'm too lazy to get a tally in the mod chat. So continue on debating this, but it'll never get put in the mod.
A faction's guard system should have its equivalent of the Isis standing at the gates. THAT would deter people.

Is that from your point of view or from the rest of the dev team's?
