Good idea but zillion of systems must be re-modelled in order to work.

' Wrote:Meh. As far as abuse goes, EKing into roids is a low one. As long as you are in EK, you have NO steering whatsoever, so you're very vulnerable to SNACs and mortarfire. It's at best an anti-fighter tactic for caps, to use when faced with a mass-fighter assault with no bomber support on capital vessels.
Intentionally going in a PvP match with >20% lag on a tiny fighter that then jumps all over the place is as much abuse of game mechanics as that, but seems to be commonplace among "aces". How about booting any player with >5% loss or >20% lag to prevent that?
EKing in the fight with bombers is actually a good move when you master the rearfighting, especially in asteroid field that prevents them from SNACing from max distance.
What it gives you, is that you can slightly turn your ship in different direction, and again instantly change the vector of the ship movement.
It's very similiar to bouncing, actually. both instantly change your vector. Just bouncing does it in the range of 90-180 degrees, while EK-thrust changes your vector by 30-60 degrees.
But well, I see... something I thought was a completely valid tactic that I witnessed multiple times and though it was cool (when my opponents were doing that, added quite lot of fun into the fight), turned out to be another way to abuse game mechanics.
Meh, we should have a list or something for these things...
' Wrote:OP : you mean abuse of hull/shield damage upon impact? u been smokin' bro?
Nope, I mean hitting an asteroid/base/trade lane/ any other stationary game object (NOT player) in EK, to change the vector of your movement, in PvP. edit: your speed isn't increased like with capship ramming another capship and then going into EK, it actually slows you down.
As it was pointed out, that thing is considered an abuse here.... I still, though, don't know why it's an abuse. But looks like it is one...
Because the ultra-awesome "aces" got beat, then whined about the fact that they lost. It's the truth.

I know I'm probably going to do it to avoid ganks now and again. Here's another example for the nerd inclined: The Asteroid Bounce is kind of like berries in Pokemon. They were put in the game to be used, so I'm going to use pinch berries in online battles. The other player can get over it.
Also, I don't know or care about capships bouncing off anything, but I'm pretty sure bouncing off assteroids, with or without ek, to dodge better in a fight, is frowned upon and considered lame. Remove AUs, remove nanobots, grrr.
' Wrote:I've always wanted assteroids that kill you when you fly into them. Or damage. A lot. Especially caps. Now that would be fun.
Um, astroids doing hull damage on ships, which are probalby ways bigger and heavier than the asteroid itself doesn't sound realistic to me. Asteroids should be pushed away by bigger (heavier) ships and do damage on smaller (lighter) ships, that easy.

Eh, nah, physically they'd do about the same amount of damage per asteroid or per unit surface area or what have you. And fighters would have the advantage because they have less surface area/volume: in layman's terms they are smaller.
