Day leaving me with mixed feelings. Got an IRP report that Elbe didn't sell bomber guns. As a guard base it should, that was a quick fix. Trying to work with Xoria's proposed template for submitting the MBases updates for the Gallic systems. These govern the NPC population inside a base and the mission values that spawn there. Certainly some room for improvement - it's going to be quite a job to get that sorted out once it's all done.
Ended up interrupted continuously however. RFP/RM wondering why Wraiths are sold on Elbe now - when I am positive that was discussed both with the RFP -and- RM. RFP boss wanting something done with FR5's, which isn't even something the devs handle - that's admin stuff. And I ain't an admin. Corsairs querying about getting the Raba. Dab already said they would 'though I'm not sure the discussion on that was final yet. Meh. Miscommunications. But all these things are a few more hours of devtime wasted.
In the end I got fed up with it and went ingame. Skype to DND and ignore. Tomorrow's a new day I suppose. Still got those icons to do, the mining mod revision. Bleh.

Out of interest, could you guys do something about the turret blind-spot behind the tower on the Newark models. It's always depressing to find an Outcast or Rogue nestled in there.
Bug reports (such blindspots kinda are) to the bug reports section please;)
Time for an update. Got a lot done, though not as much as I wanted. Being treated with your UPS batteries dying to start off your weekend is fun. Not. Luckily, I had most stuff saved.
Finalized taking an inventory of the ship icons that will require replacement. 107, over a third of the ships in the mod. Bit of a task, but noncritical - it's more a finishing touch. More critical is the MBases.ini adjustments for the Gallic systems, more time consuming too. I'm trying to get some kind of structuring going in it, but it's been hard to crossreference all the needed resources. It's taken well over 20 hours in total I reckon... Which heads, which bodies, which mission parameters etc. Think I got it sorted now, which'll make the other 13 systems go a lot faster. Especially the 6 guard systems which don't have much in the way of a base present.
Next job: Full inventory of the minable zones, potential sell points for mineable zones (taking storyline into accouny) and preparing a new configuration file for the 4.86 miningmod. There are new mining ships, new minable commodities... Might need some feedback from the mining faction leaders once I got my ducks in a row on that task.

Another day. Spent most of it prepping a replacement for the Vidar. It looks pretty swell, and quick tests ingame suggest a 1 on 1 replacement with the old model is possible. But it was past the deadline so it won't be in beta 1 most likely. Still, the model is good, and hardpointing it wasn't that difficult. Chased a few other devs on pending alpha-2 issues. Not much left now, 'though I figure everyone's tired about the wait. Most devs, myself included, as well.
Decided to take the evening off and find me some pews on a BAF char. Miningmod can wait to tomorrow. It's not an alpha 2 issue. My plate in that regard is, for the moment, clear.
:)

Decisions on what gets done and is to be done are made by the team as a whole. As I recall it was Cannon who pointed out those icons needed work. And yes, Syrus. That Vidar model is indeed the one.

I was wondering if AI cruiser (new one. And not only it) will be having a forward facing turret (for capital weapon) on top of its body...or somewhere else but not on side. It just looks ..ummm...incorrect when you put mortar from one side and simple turret at another side (I meant symmetric side hardpoints)

I LOVE it! It looks cool and very rheinlandish. Odin on steroids
Are the changes cosmetical or will any of the stats be changed as well?
What about the generic rheinland pirate cruiser model, that lookes similar to the vidar. Will it remain the same?
no capital ship changes are cosmetical only. - but mostly due to the turret splitting. - EVERY capship will change - and the fine tuning of the balance will be up to --- the community during the open beta.
so it will be encouraged to have many many battles during the open beta - the more the better - as long as there is serious and good feedback about the ships performances.
atm - no one can really say much about the capship balance - cause everything is either small scale or theoretical.
in any cases - most model changes also come with slight balance changes - cause no shape is really like the previous one - and some turret locations are changed etc.
