For a person once entrusted with letting know people when they where misbehaving sir, you have a rather rude way of saying goodbye to this fine role players.

I'd probably be more sympathetic if they hadn't left once already. And then changed their minds. And if I wasn't still (at least sort of) running a faction that has been involved in a direct conflict with them because of the way their RP interacted with ours.
When my ID says that I can demand Nomad bio-samples, don't complain when I do just that. And don't complain then when we take direct in-RP action if you fail to comply. If that action ends up with your Freeport having lots of holes in it, so be it.
I've also never been noted for being politcally correct or polite - simply right.

Not really. This conflict was never personal, at least not for us. OSI already received the exact same demands we made to the Omicroners

1) Your ID doesn't say people have to comply with your demands.
2) Second paragraph is one of the more arrogant statements I've seen from you, I must say.

Jesus Christ. The dog has been put to sleep and now you want to hack it into pieces.
Omicroners did no more "whining" than any other faction. Everybody and their mother plays forumlancer. How many times have BHG and Order got into forum fist fights?
How about showing a little respect for departing players, for once?
And for christs sake, don't mention the whole "BHG Core/ZTC" event. That was over a year ago. People have conflicts and move on.
You want to know the real reason why Omicroners disbanded? Why most everybody left? Here you go:

This place would be so much better if people stopped worrying about being right and showed some bloody courtesy. And that goes for both sides.
But no, you're right. Omicroners are a bunch of self-indulging, cry babies who dared to change their mind about leaving the server a year back. What's that? They heard that Core wanted to buy O-74 and decided to stay? They ought to be ashamed of themselves. It's so embarrassing that they would do that! And they dared complain at some faction for refusing to give up nomad remains! Yes, let's continue to bring up that topic for another 4 years.
And while we're at it, we can get Dab and Zelot to fight eachother over what happened when AW got into a war with TBH. I don't know about you, but that sort of thing always got me hot and wanking away into the night.

I agree. Corsairs need to apply more lube next time. :P
Seriously if you can't handle getting shot at then I say adios and good riddance.

Folks, people, players, with or without roles, aces, guys, (girls?), friends, foes, DISCOrdians ... please come back to old little Earth now, from your galactigantic trips again. It's not that I'm enjoying a break of any warping while searching for alternate realities.
A thread having this amount of views actually cannot deal with easy stuff, don't you agree? Is there anything else more important than the own personality - oh, there it is - ego!
Absolutely nobody of the ZTC/Omicroners ever believed it wouldn't be personal issues put into a few days of breathtaking action on this server called "Zoner Corsair War" (easy for me to be that bold since I was being informed by one who was driving it), but that also shouldn't be an important point in the end, because whether it was, or rather not - objectively for real, unreal, or just sublty indicated as real - doesn't really matter as much as the label "role play" of the same server.
There is a way to use role play independently of players behind the character masks to transport one purpose of an RPG, and there's another way by mapping the own personality to roles, thus transporting a second purpose of this game. Both needn't be contradictious, if it's working, measured by a general consensus, but if it doesn't work everybody should actually try to sort out the portions from the one and the portions from the other for himself/herself. And there's no certainty that anybody could come to a finally appropriate judgement. What matters is consenus. Egommunity or Egoimmunity? Having threads like these is brute bread and circus, which was a very important addition for the Omicroners to say: 'Was nice'
Imo, during all of these events some fundamental questions appeared that haven't ever been properly answered:
How much "power" (incredibly stupid concept) should an official faction have?
Who is determining role playing lore finally? And when? Where?
Who is making sure official factions are true to it, even more true to their own published lore?
Are there any minimal prerequisites every character class (sure, "NPC faction") must have to be playable, and moreover to be distinguishable from others?
Is there any basic strategy to balance everything, like the "power" of Indies and factions, or the rules, the rule enforcement department, and all players?
"Strategy" ... but I'm not trying to tell you there isn't anything. It's pretty much, but "strategy"?
It's a madman's project to work on all of this, but who is actually enjoying the permanent noise of role playing ideas popping up in dozens every single day ... - what is "structure"? And how much can anybody expect without? Okay, it's FREElancer, but if everything is free, why cannot everybody be his very own official faction? Far fetched, or again a dilemma of Ego(i)mmunity? Reiterating some issues might be a learning process, but when is it turning into a waste of ti ... leisure?
Is anything of this relevant for good role PLAY?
Put it to "random thoughts" if you don't like it.
I actually never wanted to play this old game for more than a month when joining Disco 2008. It was an experiment, curiosity perhaps - bored dude in winter. I was asked by the initial founders of the ZTC to take care for the role play, just because I've had a pen & paper RPG group for about 15 years (no intention of self-praise!!!), so I agreed. "Quite intriguing - ego shooter + RP + pen & ... err ... keys & forum". One of the tasks I was given: "Tell us something about RP".
"Oh well, where to start?" I thought I should start with interaction, but that was obviously boring for the first ZTC guys. They didn't need it. Then I thought I should address a very important rp rule "Never play yourself", and soon I was entangled into a philosophic discussion about the human ability to strip his very own from himself to be somebody else. I wasn't able to explain why a role player shouldn't use the essence of himself to create his roles - happening mostly unintentionally of course. BIG BIG "MEH". I thought about a third topic, but the "lazy buggers" never gave me a chance to continue.
From what I've seen here pretty many are not playing a game. It's called "competition" sometimes, or even worse, "it's our role". But taking the deflection of certain emotions as a measurement for importance, nobody can claim there would be distance left - between the player and his role. "Now, isn't that really authentic?" I can hear many say, but "isn't real life authentic enough?" would be appropriate I guess. Really that much bored, or rather incapable of differentiatian? And who isn't concerned?
Leisure, and Role PLAY, not role fu-fu-fu-FIGHT!
Oh, and it's not about pvp here. Pvp is sports. It's cool. It's fun (to me even when I'm permanently losing). Knowing the tricks it can become cheap.
But ...
Role Play is Art.
I've seen it on occasion on Disco (and then it was very fine!), so I believe Disco is worth a try for every role player, but it didn't happen often enough to compensate the frequent drawbacks. Some things do not work out properly - measured by the role play expectations of the Omicroners.
Honestly, no offense meant though. Just perhaps different worlds.
