' Wrote:Compare the stats and take into account that the Sarissa is even larger than the Ranseur and like the 3rd largest battleship on the entire server.
Agility can't help you if you are still too fat.
The Sarissa needs to be either scaled down or buffed into the heavy bs class.
Sarissa and Ranseur is EXACT same size. NOW AND BEFORE....
I flew the Sarissa for about 1 1/2 year, logged some 3000+ hours on it, yeh, nearly half a year online ONE SHIP....
The sarissa, sucks unless you know HOW to use it. With the turret split its grown to be an incredibly weak ship. It has some good sides to it, it is agile, it was/is nearly as agile as the old ossie, despite being nearly twice the size in every way (fatter, longer, wider). It has a GREAT advantage that it do NOT get stuck in asteroid fields like ever.... But then theres the downside, much less hull, less guns, less power for the same size. I still think the sarissa looks better then the ranseur, both old and new, but that is a personal opinion that doesnt do much in a pvp setting.
The old sarissa was briliant though, with 3 cerbs, 9 basic primes and a mortar or two it could rival the firepower of a fully loaded OC prime dread. With said setup my CAU7 Sarissa could beat a CAU 8 dread in a brawl like 2/7 fights.... which is surprisingly good considering its the underdog in every aspect but agility.
The agility was GREAT in the old mod, because bombers would try snac you at 2-3k, which you could fairly easily avoid once you knew how to pilot that thing, now it dont matters since Nova's track and its no longer just 3 bombers at your ass, its most likely 13 of them....
BUT, if you want a great advice, the best ship outta them all is..... wait for it...... The Storta Destroyer.
WHY? Sure it cant tank as much BUT, it has a CD, it has a thruster, its hard to hit at a distance, its far more likely to kill a bomber then you are in a dread. It can kill legates all alone once you practice a little.
AND BEST OF ALL, people usually underestimate you and dont bother to call in the full gank force before you've killed half of the enemies.

Oh my you have flown a way too much caps, anyway Sarrisa does need size reduction- it seems that the Devs forgot about it- go to cry in the balance part.

Alright, I think I should make the swap back to the Ranseur then, even though I actually like the Sarissa model better - it grows on you slowly.
I had the Storta too, and really liked it, but now I have a Council Obstinate, and I think it is my favourite capship out of the ones I have tried. I am slowly learning how to use a cruiser properly too, so I think I need to train my BS skills a bit more as I don't really know how to use them, except from getting right up in the face of the enemy and then using my primaries until they die. And for that strategy, no doubt the Ranseur is better. Thanks for the input.
Agreed with that, Sarissa and Ranseur is exact same size and Ranseur has more power output and more hull so if you ask me Ranseur is much better ship then Sarissa.
It is true that Sarissa is more agile then Ranseur so its your choice, if you prefer more agile ship take Sarissa and if you prefer more heavy ship take Ranseur.
Ok another question which is a bit off-topic: Which turrets to use for anti-snub protection? I tried the gatlings and the regular solaris for a short while, and didn't like either (too low damage when you finally hit) and then of course OC secondaries. Does anyone have good experiences with using the solaris turrets against snubs? Are they "better" than the secondaries when fighting snubs or was I right in my initial assesment of these turrets not dealing enough damage to compete with OC secondaries vs. snubs?
I am using secondaries to hit snubs hard and "normal" Solaris turrets to finish them fast. Lets say 4-5 solaris turrets and the rest secondaries. oh and at least one flak to throw away thoose Novas coming to me and to push SNAC bombers.

Ok. You have the secondaries and the solarises grouped seperately, right?

Edit: Sorry for asking BS noob questions:-)
Np :)
Yea i have them grouped seperately. Just hit Snubs with secondaries until their armor is damn low (15-30%) and change to solaris fast and blow it as fast as possible...good chance to kill it before he use nanos/batts.
Btw. My friend is using Razors. Throw shield down with solaris and then fire Razor and boom!
There's always an "extreme" option with lvl8 turrets - full flaks.
But that requires very, very good aim (I still can't learn how to aim them at 100% accuracy), and you'll deplete your power in 3-4 shots.
Also, that setup requires lots of patience to wait for a good opportunity to instakill someone, and does not allow you to act as a fire support for your snubs - they can't hug you.
