Yeah, but the original method as of late drew NOTHING. Nobody wanted to join because they were afraid their 'precious' characters would be shot or otherwise killed outright. Yes the old method had a charm, but if it doesn't work, than it's useless as a recruitment method.
Let's face it, time marches on, new replaces old. *Shrug*

The old recruitment was done by Skype friendships anyway, as someone already said, so no, it wasn't all that brutal/difficult/whatever.
All factions recruit via Skype friendships, very much how real world businesses recruit internally far more than externally.
All most people are looking for in recruitment is for one to prove they are not crazy, prone to drama, and can handle their assigned job with efficiency and skill.
A personal reference from a trusted friend goes a long ways towards that.
But, as for the old system, i did rather like it, and i thouroughly enjoyed my application and acceptance into the SCRA, quite.
But then again, I am an accomplished writer and a forum warrior rocking a cap 8 keyboard with a talent for dialogue and description.
The old application system was not only my cup of, but also my specific brand and preparation of tea, rendering my opinion on the merits of the new in regards to the old rather biased and useless.
Not that I plan to apply to the SCRA ever again, as much as I would like to, what with the expected reception by the gatekeepers, hmmph.
gone four years, first day back: Zoners still getting shot in Theta :|
I like forum recruitment system, because this gives players reall opportunity to try themself in joining some factions. But yet, open recruitment on forum doesnt means " everyone accepted". Adding question quize into recruitment stages will show, does this player ready to be accepted into this faction.
So, I think, that new way of recruitment will motivate new players to make their best in RP and good gaming.

And what reception would that be? My entire High Command except myself wasn't around when you were in the SCRA and I'm personally indifferent to you. We're not little children who hold grudges and cry when we don't like someone, if you can pass the recruitment you can get in. The only exception is if you're a particularly problem player, but those are very, very rare, and from what I can tell, you certainly aren't one of them. So really, go ahead and apply.
I'm not sure what the purpose of asking for feedback is when you have no intentions of taking said feedback into consideration. You've decided to change your recruitment method and you've done so. Cool.
My suggestion (not saying this to be mean) is that you should spend a tad more time on the role play of the SCRA before worrying about a recruitment process. The role play regarding Alvin leaving and you taking over Aphil was...........laughable at best. Seemed very, very rushed (as in thrown together an hour after Alvin handed over the reigns).
You should have taken a few days and done something of higher quality instead of rushing and having that tumor being your first act as the faction's leader.
Anyways, good luck with the new job and don't let it stop you from actually playing the game (not the forumlance side, actual in game time!)
The feedback we're lookng for, and we should of specified, was not so much wanting to know which method people liked better but possible ways we could tweak our new system in order to accomplish our goals of streamlining and accessibility.
I admit, yes it was fairly rushed. The way Alvin spoke made me think he was staying an extra month or two. He had added my to the FL Leader Chat, but said he'd stay on as Premier. And then suddenly not even a day or so later "Joey, I'm leaving now". Caught all of us off guard really. I was never really good with stories to begin with, and considering I'm on a trip to Colombia and I'm busy everyday it didn't really leave time to come up with something of better quality. I'll be honest, you probably shouldn't expect the same quality of stories that Alvin gave. He is a professional author, and I'm just fresh out of High School.:PStill, I'll work harder in the future to create stories of better quality, if not Alvin quality.
As for forum vs game time, believe me I have no intention of spending most of the time on these forums.

Don't think you can streamline or make it anymore accessible. It is a clone of what the majority of other factions use, just with the SCRA twist. OSI's recruitment process is the exact same thing, just with our twist.
Should be much less daunting for newer players and for players who don't like or aren't skilled in forumlancing.

There is no need to rush the role play of an ooRP leader shift. You might not be great at stories and such, but you have a high command to help you with that kind of stuff. One of them that has been playing this game for awhile now and I know is capable of helping you.
I dunno, I can't get into what made the whole Rhade taking over and such rather lulzy at work, so I'll chat you up on Skype later. Just don't think I'm berating you or telling you, you suck. Just sharing my opinion and wanting to help ya out if I can.
I admit, in hind-sight I could of done a lot better. But here's the thing, none of what I said was a lie. Katz really did have deals with Liberty and the Corsairs. I just exaggerated it for my own purposes, so I figured it wouldn't be that bad. But it did end up being a little silly xD.
Don't worry, I can take feedback without automatically assuming it's a personal insult. I look forward to talking with you on Skype, after all you were the leader of OSI back when I was a newbie. You have far, far, far more experience at all this than I do.
