Depends where you are coming from, if we add money the whole thing starts to be hairy like WoT and similar.
Discovery is great also because it works only on donations. People that loves this hobby and have the opportunity to donate do it.

If you want one of the unique ships, play on a different server or singleplayer. In this particular server, unique ships are unique.

From a dev standpoint (and correct me if I'm wrong, but admin standpoint as well) we are not looking to implement new unique ships. The ones we have (4 in total: Persephone, Necrosis, Tundra, Kusari Imperial Yacht) are grandfathered in, once the respective players of these leave they will not be put up for redeployment by someone else.
