Obviously not but I have healthy relationship, normal job and real life friends in exchange together with 3 outdoor hobbies- fishing, skying and biking. Discovery is my indoor hobby together with PC hardware overkills. How many of this geek kids would have normal life when they become adult cats, vampires etc? This kids need help so if you are in position to help them do it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Role_Models
The scene where the geek kid kills the geek king and none believes him describes discovery and the situation here very well.

Because apparently someone can't play a non-human in a fictional setting without having deep-seeded emotional and social issues that leads them to be unable to have a normal life.

Educate yourself read study or two then start to call names unknown to you people in Internet.
The time spend in Internet shape our reality combined with the time spend in real life.

That still doesn't give much validity to what you were saying. All you did was come into a thread and generalise about everyone because you 'read a study that said so'. No matter how many sources you can pull together, there'll always be grey areas and exceptions.
And what gives you ANY right to assume anything else about another member of this community? Exactly nothing.
What gives you ANY right to turn around and say someone is x because they do play y as a character? Ab-so-freakin'-lutely nothing.
Obviously it didn't occur to you that people would simply do these things because they're fun, so you've gone and looked for reasons to make yourself feel bigger than other people by waving your e-peen around by saying people are, well, from what I gathered: Socially inept because they play a videogame.
Well I haven't wrote even the half of the bad stuff that you wrote.
You went a way too far accusing me about saying that all playing cats/vampires and such are social neglected and calling me names. If you have personal problems solve them, does not go aggressive on the people that you does not know because they have different opinion.
One insist that his character is cat when normal understanding and the community says that cat does not command space ships. Such scenario is bad only for the cat person because at the end he got rejected by the rest labeling him as weird.I doubt that they have fun. I know how much useless hate is spilled on one member of the Community for rping animals flying ship.
If Freelancer was based on Cat humaniods then the one roleplaying Human flying ship would be rejected.
For me people that go too deep into building up weird characters and spend too much on-line time could easy become victims of what is written in the study that I linked.
I just wanted to point out that people chose their characters mainly based on their antipode- I never have stolen anything in my life and most of mine characters are unlawful even that I am quite normal average person. I know a man that is living like real freelancer junker risky and on the edge of the law,I cannot imagine that I would ever do the same, but my junker acts like him in Freelancer virtual world.

And I haven't stolen anything in my life, nor do I intend to. I still play mostly pirate characters. I play as a Coalition fighter. It doesn't make me a psychotic Marxist IRL, now does it?
That, sir, is where your argument fails.
Though people play some stupid things, this IS fiction and it IS a game. One should be very dubious about using it to judge someone's real personality.
EDIT: Ahwait, I understood what you meant.
All the same, it'd be hard to play 'ourselves' in a space shooter. Basically every possible choice is far from us in most ways, so yeah.

So everyone who plays a navy/police character is a criminal IRL?
I have an AI character, I guess that means I want to have sex with my laptop. Thank you Govedo, for telling me so much about my self, I'll go live in the closet having constant sex with my laptop until I die from malnutrition, since I can't have a normal life
