I don't mind that someone continues to play as they're lagging, I'm just not about to continue a fight that results in someone bounding out of range for 5k when I can't even work ones shield down.

Lagwining fights is bad thing- the ship of the lagger wraps around so the others cannot hit it and they got hit all the time,so ganking is more then valid tactic.
I miss the old times when the Cannon lag kicker was activated and said bye bye to all with 5% loss or more. Internet is 10-15 times cheaper then it was 5 years ago if you find discovery as hobby you pay for better net on the same fashion that you pay for your fishing tools in order to go fishing- I see it that way. Unfortunately there is nothing free in this World.
The other way to see it that I want to sanction my boss for 0.0 driving last BMW 7er long base when I drive small Renault Megane from 2007.

I'm sorry but, you don't have to enter a group fight if you have 15% lag Tycho.

a) You are impossible to hit, and you probably can't hit others. Even if you can, they wont see the shots and wont be able to dodge them due to your lag.

b) You don't want to give up group fighting because you enjoy it? I don't understand how you can enjoy group fighting with 15% lag. You aren't gonna enjoy it and the people already present aren't gonna enjoy it due to the lag you bring.

I for one don't complain about laggers anymore because there's no point really. I simply don't fight them.

However, I do find it annoying when a laggy person gets into a LF and then wants to fight. Even after you tell him that he lags horribly, and that his LF is jumping all over the screen like it was having seizures, he still wants to continue the fight because apparently "If he doesn't mind the lag, why do I?". And that's a direct quote. No, just, no.

This is a gesture of good faith, but one would assume that lagger may simply not have any choice in the matter.

The person in the OP's example is a scumbag, though. Threatening to gank another player for something out of their control is heartless.

Just as the lagging player has no obligation to modify his behavior to compensate for lag, the affected players have no obligation to continue fighting a laggy player on normal terms. Though yes, OP's example is a scumbag.

Gankforce is perfectly legitimate response to lagger who insists on using lag for tactical advantage. If you know you're lagging, show some respect for fellow players. Staying around and trolling with lag is forfeit the right to complain about lack of respect.

As far as B goes it's strange. No warping or anything on my screen, I just might randomly explode because I lagged into a planet or minefield or sun on the other guy's screen. It's not as if I enjoy the damn advantage and I avoid conn when this stuff happens, but seriously, I'm not just going to not shoot at somebody who blew up one of my dudes right in front of me zzz

Anyway for those of you wondering I have 25 mbps up and down. It's not speed that's the issue, but if I come out and say what it is I sense a Dablock 'coz politics lol coming.

I must be doing it wrong then, cause every time I lag it causes me a tactical disadvantage. The only time my light fighter has ever been snaced or razored, it's with 450 plus ping and at least 3% lag, although admittedly, my normally high ping probably has alot to do with it.

I agree with Charcoal and Max, too actually. The threat to gank is just a scummy move.

However, I have never (ever ever ever) experienced any positive aspect of lag. I can't land shots on others, and they can hit me without any trouble. If you all want to have lag for some tactical advantage or some such, take mine! Please!

I also personally don't make any ingame concessions. If someone is struggling to hit me, I'm struggling just as much to hit them. If they're not enjoying it, they or I can disengage and run off (and given the infrequency of my unlawfulness, they're always the ones free to choose!).

It's not exactly a problem I believe we can address, other than the attitudes around it, perhaps. *Shrug*

My upload speed is so low that I lag for everyone else but suffer no lag myself.

I can't help it in this case, but the point is not all lag causes people a disadvantage.
