It would be far more effective to start over and set up the mod in a way that works better. Unfortunately too many people hold their made up characters and video game assets too dearly.
... So we mod the way the mod *should* be into star citizen the moment it comes out, because everyone will lose both their overrated kit and l33t skills anyway. Im exited to see the playing fiild leveled. We will all be noobs.
That said I hereby volunteer to slave away my entire life to make that happen.
Because it would be beyond awesome.
Im penniless, rotten in a fight, and have authority issues, but im back!
I still appreciate the massive amount of work the dev team has done here--even if they have on occasion taken a turn or two being huge ...well.
A big part of the reason Star Citizen got the momentum it did is that Chris saw the modding community for Freelancer and what they had done with a dated engine--things that were way beyond it's design. He has mentioned several times the "large, active Freelancer modding community" and nothing as a single effort qualifies any better for that than Discovery.
The other thing is these guys do it for free and if I had been a mod developer here, I'd have snapped mentally and been mailing dead cats to half the players on the mod over the years --they can be incredibly needy and angry--just putting up with some of them grants the admins at least a pass on their own individual wacky moments.
Igiss, has ALWAYS, been NOTHING but a complete gentleman and deserves huge props and respect for his work and leadership. There was a time back in the day when he answered personal questions for me--as a new player here--and I was completely impressed with his real graciousness.
There is so much untapped in Freelancer (despite the bugs) that I really hate the idea of it "not being here". A lot of global players won't be able to play Star Citizen because of the cost or bandwidth or pc requirements and Freelancer will be "their baby" for awhile yet.
I came here NOT a fan of an RP server and many some ways, I still am not (don't ask). But the RP here--aside from allowing people to inhabit their own narcissistic dreams--has really helped shape a potentially extremely fun environment and has helped provide a means to augment game mechanics with believable and useful features that game engine can't provide.
So thanks guys and even when SC comes out, I won't overlook or forget what's been done here. I have only played regularly on three FL servers over the years and the three I stayed on had real communities of friends. I'd hope that remains true here.
The number of "full-on, invested" players is lower and Discovery was definitely crafted with the old large and obsessive play crowd in mind. So yeah, it's stretched a bit now. Nothing a few design changes can't improve--more work for the volunteers.
There is no pleasing everyone. Some of us like having a whole system to ourselves. I think it’s great that space is so big. If you want constant company – go to the highly populated areas. I like freedom of choice – more the better.
Gallia is beautiful and I enjoy it there. Please don’t use rude words like: “Dead”. Have you no shame?
Syndic and Josie pretty much said all that I could say. I think Disco's fine the way it is. I've always loved it here, and the only reason I sometimes not like to be here is because none of my close friends play/discuss about the game: they're all "living in the present"-types, see. So it's like I always feel like I'm the only one of my kind here.
But even then, I honestly have little regrets playing here. It allows me to explore things I would probably not dare to in Real Life. To experiment. Look upon the deep issues plaguing society. And have fun doing so. Makes you feel lonely if almost everyone around your direct vicinity are very shallow-thinkers. Bunch of crab-mentality factory-workers, is what they are. Yeesh.
So yes. Please, player base. Just click "yes" on that button, and make this mod shine out more rather than shield it from the potential it always was.

Exactly!

disco is disco.
Disco is a team and in same time it is a community and you can also say Disco is a mod ....but all that would not be possible if we didn't have the game " Freelancer "....so Star Citizen is a game and will be possible for moding and if Discovery team decide to make a mod for it (in some future) we will get "Disco" again ...and yea This will be mine !
If the 4.87 Disco is coming, I'd say that they cut down 50% of both Omicrons and Omegas, also get rid of some guard systems and other nonsense systems like Alberta, Nagano, Dundee.......etc, and reduce the number of gallic systems.
just do that and the game and players will be good!
