As it is, to do it CORRECTLY, you have to have FRAPS running nearly continuously, have an additional spreadsheet open, and have references to all the bounty boards open - normally all at the same time. Otherwise you're either (a) getting charged with PvP abuse because the person you thought was bountied wasn't or (b) wasting your time because you managed to kill the bugger but didn't get the screen proof.
Which is why I think the bounty rules could be reworked alongside this black box idea, to make things remarkably simpler.
Well Hone already got in about the Bounty rules correction, but there is another one that may be considered interesting:
Quote:7. Groups and factions may enter into contracts with governments or entities for flat rate fee payments instead of individual bounties. The flat rate shall be at least 30 million credits, and can be higher. Proof of this payment shall be posted prominently upon the forum, either on the bounty board or in a thread specifically regarding that contract. All acts under such contracts must be posted.
If you don't care about the money, have a bit of a talk with the contractor and see if you can just be paid for "a month's patrolling". The Lost Star's contract with the IMG is an example.
You don't need to post as often, and if you have someone willing to put all the screens you take together then it's even easier. Not that it is particularly hard to take a screenshot of their ID and /time and screen your kill.
If you're so lazy that you can't be bothered with the paperwork, just make a lawful for the area you are in and shoot them after some RP.
If we could make 2/3 screens per claim a 1 screen case, it would be so much more easier.
Simply include these to the death messages.
-The ID of target.
-The killer's name.
-Time of the death
-Ship type.
-(maybe the system name as well)
So it will be like this: SMT 12:32 11-11-13 Outcast Fighter Sol.Jumbo was killed by Silver.Butter in Tau 37.
A console command to trigger this for the hunter chars would all that would be needed.
Only the bounty hunter chars' screen would be boggled by the amount of extra info, and those who are not interested in it could deactivate it with a simple command.
With no offense intended, people who think this is a good idea obviously have no clue how much trouble would it cause for those of us who don't have a low ping on the server.
As fancy as this idea may be, it'd just turn the whole bounty claim process into a brainless "Mash B soon as he flames up" kinda deal, and if there's a hunter with ~200ms ping who's actually trying to claim a kill, and a randomer with 50ms ping nearby, if both are quick on B-mashing there'd be no chance for the hunter to actually beam in the item before the randomer does. So you see, as cool as this idea may be on paper, there are numerous reasons why it wouldn't work as intended in practice - Ping is one of those reasons.
Removing server-wide (or even system-wide) bluemsgs sounds like a tempting idea, and we already have the option of limiting deathmsgs to those with your own char on either side of it (/set diemsg self) so maybe a variation of that command can be used for an idea similar to this. It'd also be logical for the hunter to have an item on their ship which keeps track of the ships they've destroyed, so instead of a "black box" on the target, a similar item can be used on the hunter ship. People who intend to claim on bounty boards can purchase said item to keep track of their kills, and all they'd need to do to claim would be taking a screenshot of their "kill log" and posting it on the board.
Sure, that won't be as interesting as the original idea suggested in this thread, but it'd at least make things a tad easier for those with higher pings (As claiming bounties with a not good enough ping is hard as is).

THIS, this is the best idea in the entire thread, and i think it is doable and reasonable. Upvote from me.
