No... What I actually said was that in order to have a high profit route, they'd have to be able to trade to Kusari and Liberty. Which they can't. So it's a moot point.
At the moment they can smuggle Blood Diamonds to unlawful sell points, the same as any other criminal faction.
Lunaphase the reason why I don't take anything you say about Hessians seriously is because you pull stuff out from your behind when you say anything about this faction, and I'd be wasting my time trying to discuss with you matters of lore that you are inherently biased against. Hessians trade with Bretonia? What? You just make stuff up, seize on skype rumours, or you exaggerate things you read in an RP thread that you shouldn't even be reading, and then you outpour your tears about it at every opportunity, try to turn it into something that will ignite forum rage, and I swear there isn't even a lick of any sort of argument in there. That's the very definition of trolling. So stop trolling this thread up, because it isn't about your illogical bias against the Hessians, it's about:

And no, we wont change things only to satisfy your desire to "win". Constructive suggestions will be praised. Crying unconstructively about Hessians will be hidden.
As to the few interesting quotes I did pick out...
Quote:Personally i think a good way to solve this issue would be to allow corps and other groups to turn their heavy transports into psuedo cruisers, at the expense of most of the cargo space.
Liners. Cloaks on transports. Cloaks fit the above description perfectly in fact, you can run and the enemy can't stop you, and it takes up a portion of your cargo. Also as probably said tens of times already transport cerbs will get a buff.
Quote:People want to roleplay. this is a roleplay server.
PvP is role play. Also, the Navy is supposed to defend you. Why don't they? Alternately, why don't you use the money you trade up to make own indie cruisers/bs if you find them absolutely necessary and the player factions wont accommodate you?

Have you ever had the pleasure of taking on a gunboat and a pirate transport in a renzu liner simultaneously? If you had, you'd know that liners are nowhere near as combat-capable as cruisers. Suggesting that these fill the void left by a lack of cruisers is simply false.
Unless of course, you're suggesting that house corporations should have to have multi-hundred million credit cloaking systems on their traders to deal with paperweight fighter pirates? In that case I suppose the current system makes sense.
Lunaphase suggested giving house corporations options to trade cargo space for weaponizing their transports. We currently do not have any viable option for this. Why dismiss his suggestion so quickly?

The one problem about playing totally indie (no Navy/military ID) is that you can't use capital ships, so you are likely to get steamrolled in any sort of serious PvP engagement unless you have vast superiority in numbers. And that's hard to come by when everyone wants to fly 5kers and fancy capital ships. As usual, I will express my indie bias (of which I am quite cognizant) and say that freelancers and indies need more perks, but that might be tangential to this discussion.
I think a more apt point to make is that the overwhelming collective PvP power of military and unlawful factions precludes any sort of give and take in terms of roleplay between individuals and these factions. Simply put, these powerhouse organizations are not compelled at all to deal with, accommodate, or be kind to independent (usually newer) players. And then these players can't advocate for themselves on a message board which really should be tangential to the game itself, but somehow exceeds the actual game in importance. These are real problems.
Solution: Make the game more friendly for newbies and indies via FLHook.

Well, gunboat + ptrans is just simply overpowering any transport, there's no denying that. But a transport shouldn't be as strong as to be able to take on both of those and have equal chances, this would mean that pirates are reduced to bringing fleets into any area they want to pirate successfully. We don't really want to encourage that type of behaviour.
Transports in the past were balanced mainly against pirating bombers, so a transport with a good loadout can actually reasonably take on a bomber pirate and win or drive him off if he has a good enough armour installed. Against the bigger things... cloaks work for now - until their escape value gets nerfed.
How would exactly would "spending cargo to harden transports" work though? We already have armours for hp boost at the cost of cargo. So now... we make a set of really strong transport turrets that take a lot of cargo space?

Any particular suggestions? Faction leaders being arseholes is not anything new really, especially when indies are concerned. Usually this kind of behaviour is undeserved, and I can see how it can deter many newbies. Then there is the other side of the coin... you don't want to give indies too big of a boost, since indie factions already enjoy the kind of lack of responsibility that lets them trample over faction diplomacy at will. At the moment it seems the best way for an indie to take on an official faction is by simply making an indie faction and getting people to join, which paradoxically can do more and is expected to be less by the community.
Ideally I'd have something to promote symbiosis in some way, but I'm at a loss for what that thing would be.

I'll quote myself to say that, look, here's a perfect example of what I'm talking about.

I think moving much of the forum RP ingame to some sort of better application/mailbox system would help tons. Perhaps a way for FLHook to interact with the forums (yes, it's possible and not hard at all to code)
