I do agree that bases need RP as much as everything else in game, and its been severely lacking as of late in that department (Before I disappeared for 4 months that is) yet there aren't nearly the amount of safeguards (rules and such) to keep the metagamers from taking advantage of the player downtime and all.
This needs to be called to the attention of the big guys.
P.S. The Bass Hunters did bring this to the headlines, i'll give them that.
This.
The main problem with conducting RP on the forums regarding one's base, is that you have to ensure the base is up to a certain level before you really reveal much, save asking for permission or whatever (and even that invites metagaming risks).
Otherwise, metagamers will come along in their various oorp allied caps and blow up your core 1/2 for lulz.
So, many of these bases may have been building towards something.
Then again, many of them probably weren't. But who cares?
What gives these players the right to blow up another group of players' base just because they can? Perhaps these players use this base for their own personal rp amongst themselves, their suppliers, their customers, etc.
Perhaps their isn't any rp because it's supposed to be a secret military installation.
Perhaps it's a lolbase that was built just to annoy someone at a jumphole.
My point is, if your going to blow it up, at least have an inrp reason for doing so...and don't spread that inrp reason across multiple chars in multiple enemy ids so you can legally cover the whole of sirius, then wrap it all up into one story/faction/whatever.
Looks like it was done for the lulz....nothing more.
I agree, my base being core 4 still didn't stop gabk squads from various factions to try and blow it up . The owner should be there before any decides to take it down. Otherwise "made up " rp will not be considered rp

I'm not even asking for all of that, as it would be hard to coordinate and rather unfair for the attackers IMO, as the "owner" could just never log in again in certain ships, and it wouldn't be able to be blown up. A quick comm post is sufficient, but it shouldn't be from a vague group after the fact with photos from all over Sirius in enemy ships blowing up various bases for "balance", whatever the hell that means.
I know people are going to troll other peoples bases....most will probably still do it oorp with oorp ships and ids.
But, at the very least, don't try and roll it all into a legitimate inrp faction that has unlimited ZoI and unlimited Tech rights and hugely oorp alliances between interfaction ships.
Everyone seems to be forgetting, they get the information about their target bases in an OORP way, then go pop the base with whichever battleship/ID fits the area it's in.
The faction is not even a faction, just a troll group.
It's pure metagaming/powergaming, which isn't allowed within the rules.

+1
why are the admins not listening to this great man?
From the whole topic I learned only that the sunfish is connected to bass, good to know info, I was thinking that those are not eatable.
Also anyone can shoot any base as long as he is not breaking the rules, I have done similar things without bragging in the forum about it- it is more safer that way and it does not attract unwanted attention.

Just a note for all of you posting in the original thread, it's in an RP section regardless of the ooRP nature of the gathered caps. Discussion is here, not there.
I presume this will be another test of the admins and their fair play approach. At least one of those was a stocked core 4 that seemed to disappear quickly.
