there are actually ways to make bombers to only destroy "subsystems" - without actually exploding the capships ( or at LOT harder )
but the problem is you ( as in you, the community ) - the community WANTS blue messages - and bomber players will simply be unsatisfied when all they will get is an enemy that can go back for repairs ( no matter how much it will cost or how inconvenient it is )
from a modelling pov - there are concepts that can be done ( takes quite some efford though ) to make capital ships consist of multiple differently hitpointed and armored layers.
bombers could render a capital ship entirely useless - weaponless even maybe shieldless - only able to drag itself to a nearby friendly base.
considering the attitude of "winning at all costs" however - i daresay they would then start to obstruct the capital ship in even retreating - by spinning it around ( nothing we can do about that other than making snubs instantly explode when they ram into massive stuff - and we know that snub players do not want that )
on the subject of SNACs though. - i partly agree that now we have nova torps that are supposed to WORK - the SNAC is a relic of the past.
we ( dev team back then ) only made the nova and supernova cannon BECAUSE we could not get a REAL torpedo to work vs. caps - and we promised to remove it when we managed exactly that. - but that is a long time ago - and i daresay - bomber dedicated players will ragequit when we actually fulfilled that promise.
that had been a discussion before 3.83 when we only had the taidan ( gmg ) and bergelmir ( which was then the generic rheinland bomber ) and NO other faction had bombers at all - but VHF were able to fire the nova...

Bombers were made because every time a cap came you needed either another cap or a sabre-swarm to take it down(for example).If you want to kill bombers get fighters also missile or razor gunboats(always worked well),the whole point of having different types of ships is that in a fleet of ships you would need different types of ships in order to counter the opposing fleet's strengths and harass its weaknesses.Fact that ive been targeted by capitals that try to hit my fighter with Cerbs or Prims while ignoring another capital ship with Solaris guns that is shooting their escorts is a complete waste of time.
No ship ingame is all powerful.Deal with it.

There are 2-3 simple solutions on that:
Mk1 Cap guns- the current useless peeshoters, however move the current cerbs to Mk2
Mk2 Cap guns- small chance 5-10% to loose them on death, huge repair costs, huge price:
examples:
4.85 Solaris (price 10m), 4,85 BS Razor(price 100m) 4-10m repair bills.
Mk3 Cap guns- overpowered 100% lost on death, only POB produced. Also Mk3 Cap shield should be implemented.
Time to implement -relative short effort since all available tools are there.
Devs wont implement them so why bother to post further?
If one wants to be overpowered in cap, as it should since it is RP server after all, then he should be able to pay the huge credit price for it together with the huge equipment maintenance price.

A good squad of caps will hardly die to bombers because bombers can't watch all caps that run to resuply nanobots and trade with the ship that is targeted. This will last until the bombers get instakilled or they flee.

I don't see how SNACs are a big deal. They are needed for bombers for multiples reasons. You cant expect their torps to hit a gunboat, cruiser, or a VHF. That would then render then useless. And I suppose you think you can hit a trader with a trop. Good Luck With THAT.
