Well what some seem to think is too easy, others think is too hard. In the end, a more difficult game, or more to lose upon a death would certainly raise the stakes, but it would also discourage new players who might get fed up and frustrated. I've always reminded more experienced players that the game only gets easy after you play a while, and as you keep going it does get easier and easier. New players probably don't find it that easy, since they're getting used to the gameplay, roleplay factor, and environment, on top of managing their characters. The current system works pretty well at keeping players starting from scratch on the lower bracket for a while. After a certain point, if they are diligent, they hit that 'take off' point where they can start making money faster. I always find it interesting to imagine what many suggested changes would be like, and its too bad we can't easily test many theories. Having said that, Freelancer doesn't seem it was ever meant to be like Eve where the penalty for death is far higher than a simple respawn and restock. If the population were far higher, it would make sense to increase the difficulty, but as it stands, to implement such changes would require a total overhaul of the game and only cause another year's worth of little wrinkles to iron out. I've realized this is the problem with most suggestions, including my own, and that its small changes that are practical, anything else just causes more hassle.
There was one point that caught my eye:
Quote:Cruise is too slow - I don't know if can this be changed, but if 80% of my gameplay is just waiting till I get from one point to another I get bored a lot
Its space, and its big, thats supposed to be the idea. I like cruising, and the feeling of travelling long distances. If it were up to me they'd use the 700k+ radius of each system to place 2-3 star systems in each [system] and space them out by hundreds of K, and make you cruise from star to star. I supported adding a speed increase to some engines so speeds could be upgraded, but again, its a pandora's box of maintaining balance in every possible scenario.
I might not be here so long, but I have seen this in many gaming communities.Players start criticising the game/mod or look for the flaws in the game for no reason to it.We all have different views on the game and experience it differently. But making topics like these is not constructive to the community. The Devs/Admins work their ass off each day so we can play for free,no game in the world is perfect and nor would you wont find any in the future as well
So if the mod is so flawed what are you still doing here?
If RP keeps you here then focus on the RP(example) and move on over the problems

While I don't support the majority of the original post, this retort is nothing more than a lazy cop-out.

I guess someone is having a bad day.
EDIT: Ninja'd
apologies - i had a RL thingy, and that was going to have /jk after it, and then the rest of this was to follow:
this will be a good news bad news sandwich. Positive, numbers, negative, letters.
1. I like the fact that this server is still running my favourite game of all time
a. i hate the fact that it will only work on one core
2. i like the fact this it is f2p, and not even pay for bonus content
b. i hate the fact that some content is added without concern for the consequences
3. i like the fact that the rules are enforced even-handedly
c. i hate the fact that Skype Friends nepotism is still evident
4. I love the einsteinian physics engine
d. I hate the fact the planets don't orbit the sun
5. I love the starscapes - as if we could fly on forever
e. I hate the fact that everything is on one plane
6. I love the open-endedness of the game - pirate one day, rescuing kittens the next
f. i hate the fact that there is no dynamic economy, and the missions are base/ships/assassin/capture/kill the nanobots

This is seriously not something people like to hear from a guy in an admin green suit.

PSA: If you have been having stutter/FPS lag on Disco where it does not run as smoothly as other games, please look at the fix here: https://discoverygc.com/forums/showthrea...pid2306502

Really you think so? I was thinking exactly what he said. Lets try it.
You've got some interested ideas and I share a lot of your views, but having the ideas has never really been the problem. The problem is always to find someone that can make them happen. If you ever manage to do that, I'd definitely try out your mod.

Lemme guess... it's still a month before semester starts?
Look, I'm not saying you're wrong, but it's all relative. Not everyone has the luxury of spending 8 hours a day grinding. I have maybe 1 hour per day max, and a few more on weekends, and I'd like to spend that precious time actually playing and enjoying all the features and RP Disco has to offer. Instead of just grinding for cash and rep to get there.
I mean, I don't expect to be the biggest bada** in command of his own planet smashing cap. But I would like to get into something larger than a CSV.

And yet money is too easy to come by? Making some of the modded systems not so ludicrously large would make more sense; but in all honesty, 350-400 m/s is a good balance. Especially in asteroid fields.
