NPC piracy with a junker salvager is pretty much the most profitable thing you can do right now, assuming you can avoid the eyes of the law. Which isn't terribly hard to do.
My junker's roleplay revolves around pirating Kusari trade ships. Since pretty much no one flies Kusari transports, that means I really only ever pew Kusari npcs with it, and my interaction with other players boils down to explaining how I got my hands on my cargo. "Uhh, it fell from the sky, officer, I swears it!"
And since NPCs aren't exactly good at escaping, a CD is unnecessary, and therefore I don't really care one way or the other.
I wouldn't be opposed to a remodel though, since it's kind of fugly.
Personally I dont think the salvager needs a CD, I'm guessing it's the same for the Raba. The ability to CD someone to pirate them then haul away that much cargo all with gunboat guns would likely be a bit much. I've flown the Salvager for many hours and there are only a few things I think worth changing.
For the ship itself, I think it would be very interesting / balanced if it were to have a slot for docking modules added. The ship is clearly large enough, and there are several places one could concievably fit a ship inside of them. A slightly larger cargospace would also be nice, as I believe it is already mentioned that it is extremely rare for any non-junkers / hogosha / FA to use these types of ships so restricting them to non-generic ID's and making them rarer would make sense. Also I want to powertrade harder.
The reason I think a docking module would add a lot of versatility to them is that in scrap mining it would allow you to keep a mining ship docked onboard / repair the damage from the radiation fields that typically go along with scrap mining, and then in piracy it would allow you to keep a CD-capable ship docked to allow you to commit piracy against the unsuspecting. Both of these I feel would be balanced, as you would still require a second person to function in either role.

Agreed. There are many times I almost cry because my salvager doesn't have a docking module.
Impyness pointed out really good arguments.
CM and Docking Slot would allow even cloaking for group piracy if the things get hairy. Also restrict the said ships only for the respective owners is good idea. Considering that we have a horde of middle sized transports that excel in single piracy role this changes would be the best for both ships.

Yup, the new issue with Raba was an alcohol-related malfunction. I apparently accidentally removed its boat turret mounts when gettin its new engine hardpoint sorted and didn't notice. Sorry about that. It's already fixed for the balance mini-update that's coming in a couple of weeks (or so) tho, so Raba owners don't need to worry too much about their broken ship for the time being.
For the record, the final decision was to keep the hardpoints the same (Boat turrets but no CD), and instead give it light transport engine, which would result in faster thrust speed and better overall handling. It's still not final and adjustments can be made if necessary, but I'd rather wait for the fix first and see how it works out before doing the required tweaks.
