Then it's activated next time you write /1 in chat box and press enter it will post your text written before under number 1. Or any other number up to 9.
For example I write:
/1
/2
/3
for other player it looks like:
MM~Silent.threat: You have bounty on your head and I'm here to claim it.
MM~Silent.threat: Any last words before I set your ship on flames?
MM~Silent.threat: No? fine by me. Your head is just a commodity.

Great tool right? saves all that typing bullcrap
Thats not what I meant, I know the fancy setmsg command.
And I don't ever encountered your problem, thats what I meant.
And why should hunters say anything else ? So the bountied one can run away in the meanwhile ?
Even if it is like you say, I got no problem with it.

Did I ever adressed it as a problem? I've mentioned it as a solution to guy which I originaly quoted. Go read it again.

Lemme go into a little more depth - because, most people dont really know this about me, i silently play all sorts. Just tonight i went through O3 and O7 on a corsair bomber (yeah, the guy who said he would never ever play a corsair)
i have a pirate roc "Danny.California" which i use to run with Veygaar's "Renegades"
I also take personal delight in blue messaging anyone running slaves or cardi through the Tau's. Those folks get RP from me, but it all comes down to "drop the cargo" "no? ok then, you made your choice" *pewpewpew* *blue-message* *report thread post*
so heres more of a take on it.
1 - Pirate RP is, as stated in another thread, the subsisting off robbery of others. You are taking money to survive off those who have an income (greater then yours) so as to live - the only means by which you have to compel obedience, is violence.
Thats the rp
Heres the truth.
People who play pirates dont do it for money - if money was so important, there are more efficient ways to make it - with just one other person, mining is still the best way to make cooperative money in disco.
However, running cargo\ore is boring.
So, you have a breakdown of people who play pirate characters by there motivations -
1 - those who find trading boring and thus make money through piracy - no issue with this, trading isnt for everyone. A p-trans that demanded too much of my ore cargo once, had a convo with him in PM's and he said thats how he makes his money - not by trading, but b piracy.
Veygaar is another good example of folks like this.
2 - those who pirate because its fun - this is where it gets sticky.
because its very easy to have your fun at anothers expense. as i mentioned in another thread, a guy who used to play here, but doesnt anymore, flat out told me in skype that his targetting my trade company efforts were fun for him, and wasnt his problem if it wasnt fun for us. In fact, by this thread and the other one, this is my primary issue with the lions share of people who play pirates. they only really care about there own fun, and dont much care if the other party has fun or not. I can probably do some quotes to back up this reasoning...
Quote:I have only 1 thing to say:
Deal with it.
Quote:Oh, and pirates are supposed to be a-holes.
Quote:Hell I have a few old pirate characters that would normally just laugh at somebody who pleaded their case and then blow them to bits if they didn't pay to live.
Quote:I have to agree, if you don't like it and don't have a useful concept or idea to change it, but can't really live with it, the dore is over there.
Quote:Do Somali pirates ask their victims to stop? No. Do rapist ask girls to stop? No.
I thought this was role play, not a childrens board game.
Quote: But I think what you need to accept is the fact that this game is a pirate/trading/smuggling/militant/policing/warmongering kinda game. If you can't handle the heat:
I can keep going really.
This is the large issue i see. I can quote 0.0 but it always gets used as a shield in Q_Q threads, so i wont.
The way it seems is that RP is the justification for whatever a pirate does - the guy i keep mentioning used his ID and RP as a justification for doing whatever he wanted, despite the fact he was lighting up freelancers\IMG tagged ships, which was not something his choosen NPC faction had issue with.
But yes, traders are at fault as well.
On my CR i had two interesting occasions during TIOPS (Trade Interdiction Operations) that serve as good examples -
I CD him, move in, scan, see the cardi, ship is still moving, tell him to halt his vessel, and he opens fire with no RP - i think by that point i had CD'd and hadnt scanned yet. once he knew he was dead, he attempted to f1. and yes, he was sanctioned for it
2 - P-trans carrying basic cargo in tau37
this one i didnt report, so no visual aids. basically, a trader, in a p-trans, carrying basic cargo items - i think it was high-temp alloy. it had either a GC ID or IFF - or both - In any case, doing my rp to stop trade going into malta, i first CD'd the vessel, asked them to stop (they didnt), made comments about how i had no authority to stop them, then when asked where the cargo was going, gave a flippant response - cant remember what it was, but something like "why do you care" ? i informed them that if the cargo was going to malta, they'd be shot, the p-trans told me i could try - we then engaged pewpew while it ran for FP10 - i did tell the p-trans to drop its cargo however, and it of course refused - i think the player figured my Nyx wouldnt do squat before it could dock - and he was right - however, for some reason, FP10 turned on him, and with no other option, he dumped the cargo - i then stopped shooting.
I got blasted in green pm's for shooting a trader with cargo bound for FP10 - told said trader that honestly, if that was the case, nothing unpleasant would have happened - however, being flippant, and implying cargo was going to the enemies of the faction i was representing, was no way to peacefully explain to the soldier with guns why your a law-abiding citizen. regardless, said trader was not convinced, was mad pissed, even dismissed my offer of 2 million to repay for the lost cargo\regens - he also threatened to report me to the FP10 admin for breaking NFZ rules, despite the fact i explained to him that the NFZ only covers zoners.
Thats why i agree with Daedric - from situation to situation, circumstance to circumstance, there are ways to pirate bad, and ways to be pirated bad.
I for one have never rp'd a silent trader, and have never ran. A few times ive stopped without being asked too, and a few times i fought just for the hell of it.
but i dont always pay.
As well, to tip the scale, i will give a couple examples of some great piracy ive been in.
1 - This one is the only thing i can remember, but it was great.
Was hauling engine parts back from an ore into NB, on my indie IMG atlas. got stopped in O3 by a sails member. normally if paying attention, i can make myself near pirate proof - because yes, i use the chat screen, i fly above plane, or i dont use lanes.
anyway - got stopped by the guy, who asked for 3 mil - engine parts would have only netted me like 6mil, so it was ok, no biggie - but, being as i understand corsair rp, and the captain of the ship does too, i offered instead to take 3mil worth of my cargo and drop it off at cadiz.
said sails was surprised, but agreed, and we made our way, him escorting me, to O5.
problem being, because of the IMG id rephack, i was hostile to cadiz (should of been able to tell first since said sails was red - i was derp'n) - so, seeing that, i expressed how unfortunate that was, and paid the sails his 3mil. aferwards, thanked him for the rp in pm's, and he even thanked me for mine, saying it was cool to not have a trader silently pay, try to run off, or just otherwise avoid the whole rp process.
