For a long time, cloaks, jumpdrives and playerbases wee considered an impossibility, yet once they were introduced, they didn't turn out quite so bad. Except they are easily abused - hugging a well-armed pob is tantamount to invincibilty, jumptrading renders piracy obsolete and batleship scanners... probably the least guilty of them all since they actually do more good than harm, making encounters more likely.
The real issue is the galaxy's size in relation to average activity and connecticut which essentially dissuades what little playerbase there is from flying normally, counting on a legitimate encounter irp and within rules - and instead opting for a certain fight with a chosen ship in chosen conditions.

So what you're saying here is that just because you put a lot of effort into it, it should stay... even if it's wrong? I'm sure everyone involved in building the Titanic put in some of their best work, but we all know that it wasn't built right.

Not the point, People are looking towards the past instead of the future, If it is like this, why don't people go back to the old WWII war airplanes, instead of modern fighting jets? The worlds has to move on, so do we.

Silly analogy. People don't go back to WW2 airplanes because modern jets are much more effective.
Quote:Not if traders are using them to avoid piracy.
This quote is getting rather long in the tooth.
'Lets nerf the Traders cruise speeds so that Pirates can catch them up easier'.
'Lets increase the cruise speeds of snubs so that they can catch Traders up easier'.
'Lets stop Jump Trading so they can't avoid Pirates'.
'Make more choke points so we can catch the Traders easier'.
'Reduce the guns on the TLs and JGs so that Pirates can hang around and catch the Traders'.
'Reduce the damage on the NPCs so that we aren't taking too much damage when Pirates are waiting for Traders to Pirate'.
'Take off the ability of Traders to use Battleship scanners so they can't avoid pirates'.
'Give Pirates a better scanner than the Traders so that we can see them before they see us'.
These are just the ones, off the top of my head, that I could quickly remember. Can you see the pattern of where these are all going?
In this Game it is the Job of Pirates to catch Traders and it is one of the tasks of a Trader to avoid being pirated. It is a Game of Cat and Mouse. Sometimes the Cat wins and sometimes the Mouse wins.
With Jump Trading learn where the Jumpers leave from and Jump to. They are at their most vulnerable when they are grouping together for a Jump and whilst they are waiting for the Jump Ship to Charge up the Jump Drive. Adapt your capabilities. The 'toys' are there for all to use so change your strategies to suit.
There is nothing stopping the Pirates using BS Scanners on their Transports to 'spy out' the Traders. Use other ships as cutoffs to stop the Traders retreating when they spot you on scanners. Work together as pirates and have cloaked ships sitting at the start of the TLs so they can report who is coming down the TL and what it is carrying.
The possibilities are limitless if just a bit of fore thought is used. How many times have I heard well traders should not go solo and use escorts/scouts. Well how about a revolutionary idea? Maybe the Pirates shouldn't go solo and use others to help out.
This is a Game with hundreds of players spread over a 24 hour period. Each person who plays this Game wants certain things from this Game, whether it is PvP, total RP, outwitting Pirates, outwitting Traders, sitting on a Capital Ship and thinking they are the King of the Universe etc. Not all of them are going to be the same. Stop trying to make sure everybody plays this Game how you want to play it.
At the end of the day, if there isn't anybody in the area to Pirate, log another character and do something else. Don't expect everybody to do something just to please you. You will find they are, probably, doing something to please themselves.
'I would like to be half as clever as some people like to believe they are' Life is full of disappointments, it is how we handle them that helps to define us, as a person
