Those were all players, who dedicated all of their effort and free time to their factions and that alone made them very fun to play. As far as I know (apart from Del, who had a XA as well), they did not even get to fly other characters all that much, their online time dedicated to fly with both new and old members, organizing mini-events with their peeps and genuinely caring for the overall ''feel'' of the faction. If their 1ic duties were done, they would log a faction character which was RPed with a lower rank and flew with the others on equal grounds as well. Stuff like that is what made factions worth logging onto. Now it just feels like most faction leaders recruit a player and expect to get activity in turn for bearing the tag and nothing else.
what a bunch of loosers ...
Jokes aside real life is more important than second life disco.

The window shopper you need to sell to. The more engaged you are with us, the Indies, the more likely you are to recruit some. And, frankly, some of the Factions have deep RP requirements. That's a hefty amount of work for some of the Indies who just discovered this place.
I must say, that this is extremely subjective, almost in a sad way.
Take Junkers for example. The majority of Junker players only use the ID as a means to make money. You don't win over them by showing off your PvP skills or by RPing with them. You win their hearts by helping them make (even more) money.

seems subjective .
Junkers are not the only one to make money. Same as img, dse.....
it is not about money. It is about not being forever alone

Just to be clear - so on the March 1st will be first activity check which will review activity which factions had in February, correct? And then on the beginning of every month for previous month?

Can you please confirm that active member means one hour of activity?
Also, is there any rethinking about reducing number of required players, considering poll in this thread where 75 percent voted that less than five players are fine for them?

The first activity check will be on March 1st.
Active member equates to at least one hour per month.
We rethought it, and the number of active players required to remain official remains 5.

Rethought it , too :
Will Admins do the activity check via the Player Faction Activity list ... ?
Well then : Will Admins check if a player has more than one character there ?
To be precice :
Is it evading the rules if you make several characters and ceep every one "active" ?
If not , then 1 Player can rightfully open 5 different characters and hold them active,
playing 24 hours a month and claiming official faction status.
I haven't read the entire thread, so forgive me if it's been asked already.
Does the activity tracker also record activity in Conn? If so, would it be possible to subtract Conn-time from server activity?
I practice a whole lot, and I really can't be bothered making exact duplicates of all my faction ships.
Also: Rather than focusing blindly on activity (quantity) it might be a good idea to promote quality? What I mean here is that I think every faction should have a feedback thread, no ifs, ands and buts.

Admins can recognize that different characters belong to the same player (it is very often practice that player has more than one ship, for example mining/trading one, snub/capship etc, it really can´t be considered as evading any rules), so this won´t work. It would be way too easy then to keep official status.
