You can still shoot while charging the cloak I think but the shield goes offline, so if you see an opponent's shield stay down longer than it should CD them.
Kudos to Mimir for fighting for better Disco. My suggestions:
1. I'm all for diversity, but too much diversity brought us here. How many factions are enemy to Liberty lawfuls? No way they could all cooperate, no matter if inRP or ooRP. Less is more.
2. How many factions should we really have on server with 100 players logged at peak time?
3. Leaving one faction and entering another must be easier. Some faction leaders are constantly failing to entertain their members. But, members stay in. Cuz ships, ya know. And our hostage-like mizery prolongs. One day we we say wtf and ally with someone we shouldn't, because he's providing fun. And we lose our ships totally. It sucks. Why can't we simply sell our ships/equipment back with no loss, leave some boring faction and join one that's funny?
I still think the constant bickering and fighting on the forums, the constant tries to borderline the rules as closely as possible just to get the last little bit of a fight out of whatever your ID allows, is much more of a problem than a sanction for rule breaking.
Don't seem to hear much of awesome RP like it happened almost 5 years ago when I started, it seems to have just degraded into PvP allday, erryday. Mind you, PvP can be fun, and is a (big? biggish?) part of the game, playing in the story of Freelancer was a much bigger "come check this out"-factor for Disco. Because PvP servers, even if they didn't have so many ships to chose from, were out there en mass almost...not to mention considering how easily one can cheat in this game.
I do agree with having too many factions around though. Also due to Gallia. And it might even be that that "going away from the vanilla story" was also a big turn off for people who were interested in RPing in the vanilla environment, for those who wished to know "what happens after the nomads are gone?" - because, didn't we all feel like the game left us hanging at the end? (It was a good thing, made us explore, but then you'd realize that that question was still never answered...)

JDs getting CDed is quite OP really, how about a PoB made "Capital Ship Disrupter" that can disable jumping?
I'm not keen to post in such topic nowadays, but...
What about making a Gravity Well Generator mountable on the CD slot? As long as there's ship with Gravity Well, the vessel won't be able to jump and every attempt of jumping will end in failing such. We have jump drives that may take several players during jumping - why not to make similiar device that prevents players to jump out in, say, 10-20K area?
There, no nerf onto Jump Drives and possibility to disable Jump Drives for the other side. And in this way, being annoyed by JD or Cloaks would be fault of the side that haven't brought such device to counter them.
Same thing should be make for cloaking devices, I say - instead of breaking cloaks even more.
People can have the same amount of activity, the same amount of fun, and the same amount of "RP diversity" without the harmful and counter-productive attitude of "screw the lore and screw the rules. I'm gonna do whatever I want because I can". No matter how productive the activity it generates is, such attitude is too harmful for the general server gameplay to be tolerated. After all, we've always had "player gangs" in the long history of Disco, and long as they've had the decency to stay within the RP guidelines of the server, it's caused no problems at all (which doesn't really take anything but making sure you have appropriately IDed characters for different corners of the map, rather than just giving the finger to the rules and hopping into fights with your buddies anyways regardless of the ID you're flying at the time). It's only when people start to think their personal amusement outweighs the roleplay and gameplay guildelines of the server that it becomes a problem.
Fighting for a better Disco is a little over the top I think, groups like these appear every so often and follow the usual Bang, Burn, Bust routine. That's not to say they don't provide a bit of fun but it's a fleeting thing and that isn't going to back Disco any better in the long run, just slightly less boring for a couple of months if that.
Overall activity will only be boosted by looking at the long term issues, unused factions, empty areas of space, dead or overused ID's, trade and smuggling routes. Everything else is just a drop in the bucket.

It's my personal attitude. I don't really like the HF lore but it's only my personal thought. I tried to play a different kind of HF, and do you know, people in the opponent team liked it. Not all of them, but some really said quite good feedback both ingame and in Kudos thread too.
Could you just send me all the evidences? I've asked this maybe the 100th time already. Being ignored is a bit annoying too.
Also, I've a question to you... weren't you the one who witnessed my Pirate char allying with HF not a long ago and now telling me here that my HF ID'd char can't ally with Pirates?

Sooo... these poor poor people had no choice BUT to use those "exotic" IDs , because mean admins changed the pirate ID. Yeah no. Let me tell you something, I pm-ed this Tuta fellow, while he was in NY with his buddies, told him, ooc, hey i got a rogue scylla here if you want help.
He DID not say anything just invited me into the group, no questions asked. Gotta say, not much RP there.
My point is if you add HF, XENO, ROGUE, OUTCAST, PIRATE, FREELANCER and whatnot to a big smoking pile of...soup, then that ain't gonna taste good.
He knew what he was doing, even more he did not warn those that he was flying with ( and are maybe new to this) about the risks. I actually think the sanction he got was quite a slap on the hand.
How HARD is it to get the freaking Rogue or even Lane hacker ID, and go crazy shooting. I mean seriously, is it that hard to not break the rules in that regard. This is not even a fine line or a grey area for gods sake. Its plain and simple.

Ohh now i get it , so you did all of this for the benefit of others. Oh my bad then, didn't know you were soo carying.
Get real, you were using pirate ID on your Asco, but since the pirate Id got FIXED, you switched to another ID, and messed up again.

This is a very good idea.

I don't know about you, but I myself have never heard of a robber going around and looking for policemen or soldiers to rob. that ain't happening. Pirate ID was FIXED.
You want to pew pew the navy or police, very good, get a Rogue or Hacker ID. Problem solved.

Change your attitude or don't play here. Is it really that hard to get?
