For reasons unknown, there are gunboat spawns along that entire lane, something not found anywhere else.
Now personally I think powerful NPCs should be extremely heavily reduced, with cruisers and up not found outside of New Hampshire-type battleground systems, but at the very least, that lane really should not have any. The route from NB to NL is already pretty low on viable pirate spots and high on sneaky alternatives, there's no reason for the O-3 gate to be unpiratable.
Also I agree with lanes being further away from gates, but that's a massive task. And of course jump gate weaponry should never have been added.
Ok i disagree with your first statement on the O3 gate. It is on the edge of bretonia space so it must be heavily gaurded asit is first line of defence for bretonia as there are many unlawfull eliments from that direction, Coalition, wild, nomads ext.
As for reducing military spawn. Do the math.... inRP house space is much larger in population than pirates and as this is the case they have the man power and resources can affoard large army's.
Lastly i agree with Malmsteen. Stop complaining about stupid things. The dev team has better rhings to attend to. And besides to be a pirate is a challenge and thats wat makes it fun.

Respectfully, no they don't have better things to be doing. The dev's sole purpose is to build a mod that's engaging and playable for everyone, which entails fixing aberrations that vastly discriminate against certain archetypes.
RP justifications do not warrant introducing or upholding bad mechanics.

Ok then its settled..... take out all rhe dam npc's in the game and base defences.... wha the hell lets put jumpholes to all systems in one spot then we can all make millions without even having to play the game.....

If you are a good dam pirate this crap would not bother you.......
good luck and hope you guys have more opinions on how to make the game boring.
@RSA Nico
Don't be angered. Pirates already have it hard, because of the tradelane bug, hence removal of energy cannons from gates or pushing gates away from the lanes would be surely the best solution to that issue. Pirates (new ones or the ones forgetting about the bug) are usually left quite annoyed as traders just fly through deactivated tradelanes.
Removing NPCs is a big no-no, but remodification of spawns would be quite logical. If I was to design it, I'd make heavy NPC patrols spawn only around colonies or vital places for X or Y faction.

Think im done on this thread before i get banned.
If all you're going to do is post over the top strawman rants, why are you bothering to reply? Why are you jumping straight to a ridiculous culmination that no one is asking for?
Unhelpful rhetoric like this is what shuts discussion down and fuels the hateful relationship between large portions of the playerbase, because it leads to the impression that people can't see past their own basic self interest and find compromises.
