If I am a player that needs credits and observe the pricing and locations where these ores are to be sold I will simply go to trade with a 5k transport. Some locations for ores are very bad as well as end destinations.
For example look the famous Gold Ore - Molly Mine field, few k down Arranmore Base? Well, which Miner would risk to go there, to mine 5-10min and be exposed to anyone undocking from Arranmore or coming out of Omega-49 (corsair for example)? "Mining should be done in groups" - ok, so lets say we have 1 miner and 2 transports...but they will need an escort - but such a small "fleet" will put attention on the tracker and any Molly/Corsair (primary Molly) can undock, fire CD and "2mOREdai".
I am not a miner but once I was - and when I see this update I simply see no reason to consider mining as option to make credits. The "Risk" outperforms the "Gains". A 5k transport with gold ore = ~23M, delivered from Dublin to New Berlin which will take 20min mining, 20min transporting and if you get caught - sayonara. Meanwhile you can do far more than that with normal trading...which is making the Mining as last viable option. Mining should be source of income and player interaction btw pirates/miners/traders/escorts.
With these changes you wont have any miners that value their time spent online cuz again - the risk is not worth the gains.
Overall like most players stated here - this update is encouraging "single" player trading with 5k's and removing Mining as an option for lawfuls primary. Smugglers and Unlawfuls would benefit most (Again reference towards Molly Mining Field, which can undock...mine...dock...while Lawfuls will have to enter their area in order to "steal" their gold and be easy kills).
It is good to do such drastic changes but not SO drastic. If you are limiting the lawful routes at least maintain x1 ore field on lawful side as well.
While I don't mine personally anymore I know alot of folks who do. 0_o These changes are going to hurt their factions badly if not outright kill them off, folks will not be inclined to log on due to the decreased reward and heightened risks of the system now.
Could've been fleshed out alittle better, but then again who am I? I'm just a Commie.

I guess POBs will actually have more miners if they will be near mining locations. After the profit nerf, not much miners will be willing to wait for traders in the field because they no longer can ask 2500-4000 credits per unit like they did so far. So if miner wants to have good time/profit ratio, he will just log, mine for the POB and then log off.
You do realize that the only place you mine gold now is in a field with a Molly POB with cerb platforms and GB npc patrols?
Omega 7 used to IRP have multiple fields for competition. Now IMG cannot even mine anything in O7 due to RP reasons.
Vipex, if you do not mine, can you not touch things that you yourself do not do anything about?
EDIT: Was any mining faction even contacted before these changes were made? You know, the player groups your changes directly involve? The ones who know the little quirks about each specific field inside out?

Maybe , but the real question is who will buy from POB?
5000 Transport Flying Dublin --> New Berlin with gold ore ~10.000 s.c. / Unit = 50.000.000 s.c.
So if he makes 50 million he can pay the Miner 10 million and he is still left with 40.000.000 s.c.
now assuming he is from Bretonia he still will fly to New Berlin but this time he will get 4.473 s.c. / unit = 22.365.000 s.c.
1/5th to the miner would mean the miner gets 4.5 million and the trader is left with 17.892.000 there are trade routes with non contraband that are more profitable...
If we take pirates into account the hole change makes even less sense:
Without the change a pirate could easily demand 10 million credits without having much of a problem. If he did then the trader would still make around 30 million meaning it was profitable to make the run.
Now you encourage Cargo piracy. Lets assume that its not a 2 man pirate operation and assume he is flying a BWT, that means that he can when properly equipped carry around 3200 Units maybe less.
First ironically the pirate makes more then the trader if he pirates him on the way to New Berlin because hecan sell the ore for 4726 s.c. / Unit (I guess whoever came up with those numbers likes to fly pirates?) that would mean in a 3200 Cargospace scenario he would make 15.123.200 s.c. which is more then the 10million but he has to move it and cant pirate again so its only a bit better then before.
Whoever the Trader now can only sell 1800 Units of cargo. Which means he only gets 8.051.400 credits assuming he payed the Miner 4,5million he just made 3.5 million for traveling from dublin to New Berlin. Who will do that ? And that is assuming that he has a real 5000 Transport this gets even more critical if he has a smaller transport.

Funny thing is that Uncut Diamonds route is still the best, by far. The ratio is still there, and it's just as broken compared to other ore routes. Out of curiosity, why wasn't that exact bug fixed months ago? It has been reported so many times and no one bothered to change a single number, which takes literally 5 minutes.
I know Karst made a whole mining balance idea back in summer which had pretty much everything covered, including fixing the route, Helium 3 mining, balancing the prices and giving neglected factions solid routes. Why wasn't that taken into consideration is beyond me. What was done here is straight up price reduction, which solves none of those problems above. This has to be one of the worst mining updates, ever.

You know, sometimes you didn't even need miner. You just flew to PoB, bought ore and flew away with profit around 35M.
While other factions like Synth Foods, Cryer, Republican(I don't mean Official one), Bowex had nothing to do because their trade routes weren't profitable at all.
So mining factions lost good load of money, but other factions are buffed.
Btw, I haven't seen trader without Ore for weeks.
Edit: Before you go and blame me, I didn't say I agree with those changes. Just brought pros and cons.
