Over the past few days @Auzari helped with a load of misc. changes and system edits that moved the next version closer to around 65-70% completion. We only have about two or three system changes to do if anyone wants to help out with that.
That is good to know. Maybe it would be good to organize a volunteer group like you guys did with the info cards, and distribute work that way.
It's not the same technical level, but active recruitment can yield good results.

not so different now, are they
Actually knock that down to 7, GMG is technically a nation not a corporation but yes they are all different in a number of important ways, including diplomacy, origin, focus and influence. Bunching them all under the heading of Traders is pointless as the entire list of Disco's factions could be split between Traders or Fighters.
Wesker, unless you've been fighting and talking to nothing but NPC's for almost three years (which would probably explain a fair few things) everything you've done is player/community driven.

Yeah, something like the old infocard volunteer forum is probably worth experimenting with. So a to-do list of misc./minor/non-spoilery system changes that's publicly visible so people know where they can help out.
So I took UN to texas. We havn't been active for a while, were hoping for a shared raid, there were roughly equal liberty forces in system. I scouted, checked composition, all well and good, equal composition. We did RP, people arrived, we initiated the fight.
Somebody in skype probably said "HAI, GUYZ, UNIONERS TO SHOOT IN TEXAS" and 5 snubs promptly piled two snubs. The fairly ballanced cap fight lost its cohesion. Others piled on the gunboat verses gunboat duel. I try to communicate to ballance the fight and get blatted for Oorping. The people involved were lucid and communicating, so it's probably sound to percieve they had a reasonable grasp of english and the server rules.
You what, mate? How was that fight even satisfactory for you? It's not a demonstration of your skills because the odds were completely overwhelming. It's not a demonstration of your character if you rock up silently, one, two, and weapons free.
What fun do you get out of it? You're even less likely to get the blue if it's spilt umpteenth ways. What do you get out of it?
I'm happy to die. I take Unioners into fights all the time I fully expect us to die in. I'm okay with players jumping in to fill the slots of dead players. I'm okay with people running off to restock. Everyone dogpiling simultaneously? Euh? It's not even fun to do. It's not like there's a hundred Unioner indies to make the return possible, either.
Again, a little bit of cautiousness. If I have an enormous force composition, I commit my members individually. I don't care if the PvPer I'm facing is the bees knees or terrible. I'll give them a two v one, or a 1 v 1, if that's what they're up for. Exceptions lie when fighting things in separate weight classes - I'll happily put three VHFs against a solaris gunboat if there's no other options, and it'd be silly to fight a battleship with just one bomber. But stub-stacking? What are you demonstrating?
That's the sort of conduct which drives factions and players away from interactions. It's why some people just want to play Zoner because the chance of engagement is lower. It's all very well people making token efforts to give everybody an equal chance at fun, or writing forum posts on the subject, but you've got to prove it ingame. Demonstrate the rhetoric you're expressing.
It's very, very difficult to keep a minor (not Hessians, Corsairs, BD or Outcasts) unlawful faction active, because our ZOI is half the size, and so is our ship usage. We have to strategise to the nth degree to plan approaches to any area, since the opportunity to regenerate lost health or other assets is minimal. We don't have the luxury of a screen full of green.
This is but a case study of what some people unfortunately do. They talk the talk, but when they play the game, they won't stick to their own expectations others have for them.
Wesker, love him or not, is a great example of somebody who does respect PVP ballance. One of my members didn't have his equipment set up (no armour, no thruster), and Wesker waited for him to get kitted out before going for an engagement. That's just simply being nice. In return, we try not to trollolololcruiser RHA when they come up in snubs, and if we do run into each other and our compositions are unequal, we'll fight, but we'll let them withdraw if the fight isn't turning out to be fun for either side. That's a good attitude.
C'mon, people. If the most notorious player in Rheinland can play the game respectfully, so can you. Good conduct will make us active again. Bad conduct won't.

it doesn't have necessarily depend on the effort people put in this game.
Thank you for mentioning this. It does get tiring seeing people complain about the lack of content or how long it takes to roll out updates when that stuff is happening approximately four times faster than it used to, back when the server did peak at 200 players.
I'm not playing the "wuh don't yell at us we don't get paid to dev" card, because I frankly think that's a fucking cop out and everyone who signed up for the job should hold themselves accountable. What I am saying is that I would appreciate it if people read their history and found out a little bit more about what dev cycles used to be like circa 2008-2013.
(Hint: ANY update took at least a year to release)

^ This is one of the reasons , but only minor one . Do i do have more modern gaming systems/games , i still play my trusty 23 year old PS1 Console , and all old games on it nearly every day . People dont play games by is it old or new , but is it good or bad .
