I disagree with you, Karst. Whilst there are a lot of scifi tropes and points of irritation in Fallen Angels lore (They're some kind of super-soldier descended Atticus Rockford special snowflake Alliance Battlestar Galactica mfers with very obvious similarities to both Colonial Republic and The Legion of Edgy Names), both the Crayter Republic and the Hellfire Legion have gradually been seamlessly integrated into discovery lore. There's a lot to like about the Angels - for one, they make the Omegas more colourful and diverse. Secondly, they're a natural opponent to the coalition - the Coalition need a paramilitary opponent other than the Corsairs.
Plus, it's actually fun to read Angels lore. They have more pre-existing good lore than damn Vanilla Unioners had before the 2016 revive.
Regardless of whether or not the faction belongs in the game, retconning relations especially to the extent of just having never met certain factions is 100% unacceptable in my eyes and honestly probably classes itself as actual powergaming.

Q: Retcons? Oh... this is not gonna end well.
A: We are retconning a number of incidents that happened during our last resurrection so we can start afresh and it still makes logical sense. Please note if you are affected by these retcons, in most instances, we will still be open to diplomacy and interaction, this is not a jab against you, your faction, or the roleplay conducted. If you have questions on this shoot me a PM and we can sort it out.
Anyway, retcons are as follows:
Battlegroup Auxessia - Roleplay and Meeting Retconned, we have never met.
BDM & Rheinland - Interactions and Diplomacy Retconned.
IC - Retconned
IMG - Everything Retconned. (Considering current politics with the Outcasts, another attempt might prove rather interesting.)
IRG - Left Alone, everything is as it was at last contact.
Kingdom of Bretonia - Interactions and Diplomacy Retconned.
The Core - Retconned.
The Lane Hackers - Retconned
Sooo.... uh... moving on.
Just by attempting to do this you're interfering with other factions and other characters to a tremendous amount. I strongly suggest that if you feel the faction has somehow been messed up by the roleplay already done you simply do not remake the faction to begin with, or make a new one entirely.

Haha what.
I didn't want to bring them into this but since you mentioned them, HF is a perfect example of a non-integrated faction with fantastically absurd, powergamey lore, off running their own private mod in southern Liberty thanks to heavy faction-dev interplay. They have no place in modern discovery either.
CR is a little better but still won't let go of their unrealistic backstory, and the Coalition which you claim needs a counterpart is yet another example of an unnecessary addition that doesn't fit in well.

The decision of retcons was not an easy one to make, however, we felt it was necessary given everything that has transpired. We were considering wiping the *entire* slate clean and using a different wing originally, but that would have led to even more issues.
We stated near the bottom, that we are willing to discuss all retcons due to their nature for this. If people are unhappy or want to discuss them, we shall. I've already started speaking Vendetta about it for that very reason; we don't want to be unreasonable and sacrifice people's work if they don't desire such.
Also @Karst & @"Tænì" , discussions are open but don't argue amongst yourselves, please. In the current edition of the extended lore the origins of the Reapers have been vastly altered. Whether we change this before we post it remains to be seen. Karst you are right in what you say about the other factions of Disco, but even they are evidence of how non-vanilla factions can flourish, if given the chance.
mmm yes let me retcon anything related to other ppl mmm yes no one will notice im just too lazy to make a proper faction from scratch mmm ctrl c ctrl v mmm

Very little of this is is just copied right over, and this was all done with Dim's permission as well.
Edit: Should add that the faction is mostly made of members of the old faction as well.

I can tell you now, the lore of Disco is about 70% player created. Most the factions from Freelancer were set pieces in a Hollywood cliché story that only had depth added to them due to player interest and creativity. Modern Disco is quite literally what we have made it, absurdity and all.
What fits and what doesn't is a matter of opinion at this point but if people want to create something and it doesn't warp the reality of Disco, I say go for it.
Best of luck to you guys.

You can not retcon stuff unilaterally, especially not in such a massive way. Retcon is last resort solution which is to be used as solution of serious problems, not something you pick just because you don´t like something. Don´t be surprised if some parties will refuse to play along and will continue to treat you according to previous roleplay. Some players basically could not be willing to pretend they never met you and talked with you when they did, it´s quite awkward.
You need to choose if you want to continue the legacy and thus live with history of your faction, or you want to create a new faction with clean slate. You can not have both. Diplomacy and general direction shifts are fine, it happens, but trying to wipe part of history of the faction just because you decided you do not want it anymore is wrong.
